'From the moment we arrived in Colombo airport to the moment we left, we were exceptionally well looked after. Kate arranged for our pickup from the airport to take us directly to the villa, on arrival we were served local tea and fruit. The in house chef and supporting staff continually impressed us with their culinary expertise and unbeatable service. The Villa manager Pryantha has all the knowledge on the local activities and uses his connections to get the best prices... wakeboarding, surfing, temple visits, boat trips etc. he can arrange it all !! The property itself is impeccable, tranquil and full of wildlife for those that want to feel immersed in nature... this is the place to be ! With the luxuries and convenience of a hotel combined with a sense of exclusivity and privacy the villa is a real gem... not to be missed' Dec 2016

'5/5 for Apsara - total heaven and Siri and team were fabulous.'

'Our first stay at Apsara was fantastic, the service we were given was outstanding and the food cooked by the Chef was really superb. The manager Pryiantha looked after us extremely well and we couldn't fault any aspect of it.'

'Who would have thought behind such a normal facade lay such beauty & tranquility. The perfect name 'Apsara' meaning a celestial nymph of great elegance and grace. Such attention to detail with the layout, design and attractive decor. So in keeping with the environment, subtle dove grey and crisp white, with a selective mix of antique furniture and 21st century mod cons!'

'An immaculate garden, pool and river frontage with our own jetty, kept to the highest standards day and night by Sarath and Sanath and special touches like the frangipani flowers on our pillow at night and the candlelit lanterns along the corridor outside our rooms.'

'Exquisite meals cooked by Siri whose skills are first rate. We opted for all Sri Lankan recipes, which my children loved, for example string hoppers at breakfast, wonderful soups and freshly made bread rolls for lunch and the chefs speciality curries for dinner. Siri's recipes published would make for a best seller!! We also enjoyed freshly caught lobster, carb, lagoon prawns and tuna whilst sipping glasses of chilled white wine, with panoramic view of the river, mangroves and palms. What more could we want! Except of course for the resident family of monitor lizards, crocodiles, chipmunks, fruit bats and bird song.'

'All excursions organized by the knowledgeable Priyantha - Galle, turtle hatchery, cinnamon farm, boat trip, watersports, fishing harborr tour and so much more. The place that dreams are made of and a holiday we will never forget. We will spread the word!! x'

'What can we say about our stay at Apsara. We arrived to a lovely welcome and the hospitality did not falter ever and the food surpassed our expectations - every meal was a treat. The house itself was very comfortable, the owners have thought of everything. Lovely pool and wonderful view of river.'

'Apsara - fantastic villa, spacious and luxurious. The mangager was very knowledgable, and completely guest orientated. Siri the cook was brilliant and the food was very reasonable. The riverside vista was lovely and the location great'

The villa has 3 double bedrooms set around a central courtyard each with four poster beds, en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning and fitted wardrobes. There is a safe in the master bedroom. Towels, hairdryers and umbrellas are provided.

The living space is comprised of a fully-equipped kitchen and open plan lounge, with double doors leading out on to the courtyard, pool deck and outside dining area. The lounge and pool side are fitted with surround sound speakers, a flat screen HD TV (for DVDs only), DVD player/library and complimentary WIFI. There is also a selection of books and board games for guests to enjoy.

The house has a laundry room with washing machine, tumble dryer, clothes horse, ironing board and iron for guests to use as and when they wish. To the rear of the property are the staff quarters and outside kitchen. Some meal preparation will be done here, however the chef Siri will use the main house kitchen for baking and plating of dishes.

The services of Siri are included in the rental price. He will prepare breakfast and other meals as requested. Food is charged at cost price plus the daily cost of transport to the market (approx 250 rupees). Siri is also happy to offer cookery demonstrations in the main kitchen and you are always welcome on his daily trips to the fish or vegetable market. Please note that Apsara does not have a liquor license but wines, beer, spirits and champagne can all be purchased locally or on your behalf.

Apsara is located on the west coast of Sri Lanka in a small riverside village called Seeni Watta. It is 2.5 hours from Colombo airport, 1 hour from Galle and five minutes inland from Bentota town and beach.

To the right of the villa lives a local catamaran fisherman, from whom you can buy small fish and crabs to BBQ and to the left there is another villa with manicured gardens. Conveniently this second villa is home to Apsara's manager (Priyantha) should you have any questions or problems. 30 metres from the rear of the property runs the village road and on one side of the driveway, is a small business selling/making bricks. This can't be seen from the villa, but occasionally some muted noise can be heard.

There is also some great wildlife at the villa. You will reguarly see monitor lizards, bats, eagles, frogs, geckos, kingfishers and if you are lucky:

There is plenty to do while at Apsara both from the villa's own jetty and in the local area.

Boat Trips, Deep Sea & Lagoon Fishing, Water Skiing, Wake Boarding, Jet Skis, Kayaking, Surfing Lessons, Coastal Cruises, Snorkelling Trips and Scuba Diving can all originate from the villa itself.

Other activities include cycle tours of the local area to Lunuganga House and Garden, the low-lying tea estates, paddy fields and temples. Also very popular is a day trip to Galle on the coastal railway, whale watching from the south coast and spa treatments at a nearby boutique hotel.
