The Winelands and Hermanus are both great options for a visit or overnight, during your Cape Town stay. Specifically the Winelands region is located only a short drive from Cape Town. Although it is easy to include a day trip to this region from Cape Town, we do encourage to spend a night or two in the region.  The main towns of the area are Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, although there are a number of smaller towns as well.

 

Where to stay during your Winelands & Hermanus trip:

Franschhoek

Although it is a small village nestled in a valley, flanked by mountains. It certainly makes it a very picturesque setting and fondly nick-named the ‘gastronomic capital’. Because it boasts an eye-watering selection of restaurants and pavement bistros.

Stellenbosch

Besides being a university town, Stellenbosch is the 3rd oldest town in South Africa. Moreover, the oak lined streets gives it a charm of its own.  Having said this, we recommend staying in the historical quarter. Because it offers a host of restaurants in strolling distance from your lodge.  However, there are also many wine farms that offer a great overnight option with beautiful vistas and country feel.

 

Hermanus

Extending your Winelands trip to the Hermanus (Overberg) region. After all, this is where the Southern Right Whales come into the bay to calf. Over all, Hermanus offers some of the best land based whale-watching during the months from June – November.  We do also highly recommend the boat based whale watching as this rewards you with amazing close visuals of these gentle sea giants.  This mountainous area also boasts its own lesser known winelands with a great selection of quality wine farms.  Finally, the area offers some great Blue Flag beaches and a real country-arty feel to it too.  All in all, great to visit, even out of the whale season – its beaches are some of the locals best kept secrets!

Kruger

Mozambique
Becoming one of Africa's hottest destinations with its tropical beaches, warm waters and palm trees. Most connections between lodges within Mozambique are achieved by scheduled and charter flights as well as boat transfers, as road networks are not as developed. A great way to end off any African holiday by spending a few days relaxing on the beach and indulging in tropical spoils.
