South Africa safari offers visitors some of the best game viewing one could hope for and boasts a large number of Africa’s top game reserves & lodges.  There is a good flight network connecting the reserves between Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban which also makes this a popular choice for first time visitors to Africa or safari enthusiasts.   It has also become easy to combine a mixture of experiences with Botswana, Kenya and even Vic Falls as airlines are offering better and better direct connections between all the major Africa ‘hubs’.

The Kruger Safari

The Kruger needs no introduction and undoubtedly, offers some of the best big five game viewing.  The Sabi Sands, adjacent to Certainly Kruger, has earned its mark as one of the most leopard dense areas in the world. As a matter of fact, visitors are treated to incredible sightings of these elusive spotted cats time and time again.  Of course, we can never guarantee what you will see as the animals are wild and roam freely with their movements dictated by food supply and water.

Madikwe & Waterberg Safari

The areas of Madikwe and the Waterberg as well as the Eastern Cape are popular with families and offer some great malaria free, big five safari experiences.  Kwa-Zulu Natal also has some great reserves and is classified as a low risk malaria area and many are not far from the coast, making it easy to enjoy a ‘safari & beach’ holiday without the hassle of internal flights.

South Africa Safari Costs

A common question we are asked is ‘how much time must we spend on a South Africa safari?’ – thereupon our advice is usually that two nights is enough to get a feel of what a safari is all about. In general you should be able to have had a reasonable amount of time to see all the animals.  Basically, a two-night stay means you get a total of four game drives.  However, I always recommends three nights to be the ideal balance between seeing the animals and being able to get in some relaxation as well.  From time to time, clients also like to mix up their safari lodges. This means that they stay in two different areas of a reserve, or experience two different areas.  This is all possible and we would love to help you with creating the perfect balance on your safari holiday.
