Fleewinter

There are 12 en suite chalets, all with private verandas that look into the bush. All rooms can be inter-leading which is ideal for families or friends travelling together. Rooms are linked together by winding walk-ways through the bush and offer privacy.

All rooms are air-conditioned with tea/coffee making facilities, mini bar and bathroom with spa bath and shower.

The main lodge area is a double storey building. Downstairs breakfasts are served and dinners too on cooler evenings. Outside is a boma area with open fire. Upstairs is the bar with a spacious wooden deck that captures the views across the bush.

There are walking trails at Umkhumbi Lodge where you can see nyala and small bush buck, monkeys and an abundance of birdlife. Night time brings out the shy bush babies that you can see most nights out feeding.

Umkhumbi Lodge is a great base from where to explore the Hluhulwe region - only 20 minute's drive will get you to the Hluhluwe Game Reserve, home of the big five. Take a self-drive into the park or book a guided drive direct at the lodge. Nearby is False Bay Game Park where you can enjoy sundowner walks with lovely views and learn more about this fascinating area. St Lucia is only a 45 minute drive.

The owners are knowledgeable of the area and will give you the best advice on how best to use your time exploring this bush region. A great combination for 'Bush & Beach' is to combine a few nights in the sister lodge, Amangwane Camp for a few nights.

Umkhumbi Lodge is only 3-4 hours from Durban and easily included on a route travelling down from Swaziland or the Drakensberg region.
