The rooms are tastefully decorated thatched chalets are each with a different theme incorporating elements from the local artists.
There are 7 standard rooms, each with a couch (can be converted to a sleeper couch for children) and 6 thatched cottages which can accommodate 2 extra beds for families. Two of these cottages are inter-leading. A two bedroom 'family suite' is ideal for a party travelling together or a family.
Rooms are all en suite with tea/coffee making facilities and mosquito netting. The cottages also offer overhead fans and private patios.
Once the old farmhouse, the main Lodge now boasts an intimate country restaurant and lounge area, complete with a fireplace and stunning views of the surrounds. Enjoy the sumptuous cuisine with it's Afro-fusion style which incorporates both the best of local and European tastes. The pub with cosy fire places offers a good place to exchange stories of the days events. There is also an al-fresco wrap around terrace to absorb the lovely views.
The swimming pool and deck over-look the Soutpansberg Mountains, or you can indulge in a spa treatment. There are 3 walking/bird trails as well as cycling that you can do and its not uncommon to see antelope on your walk.
Shiluvari Lakeside Lodge is an easy 4 hours drive from Johannesburg and welcomes couples and families. We would recommend at least two nights to be able to enjoy the area before heading onto the Kruger Private Game Reserves for a big five safari.
Set in the heart of the local arts and crafts route of the locals, Shiluvari Lakeside Lodge works closely with the local community and if you are interested in culture, there is a choice of tours you can enjoy to appreciate more of the area. The diversity of cultural heritage is among the richest in South Africa and it is possible to arrange a visit for you to these artists and sculptors.
