Although small (42km in fact) Slovenia’s coast is about quality rather than quantity. Stay in the resort town of Portoroz right on the water. Once known as the Austrian Riviera, this was the place to see and been seen. It still retains much of its glamour but with a modern twist. Depending on your tastes and needs, choose to stay in the 5 stars Kempinski Palace Hotel, 5-star Mind Hotel or 4 star Grand Hotel Portoroz. All in right on the promenade. Relax by the pool, on the beach or in one of the many spas.
Slovenia offers so much to explore! This itinerary gives just a taste of very two different areas. If you want to see more of the country have a look at The Highlights of Slovenia Tour.
After arriving into your preferred airport and picking up your rental car make your way to Lake Bled or Bohinj. Depending on arrival time, explore the local area and get your first taste of Slovenian food and wine.
For many Bled is considered the most beautiful town in Slovenia. The picturesque Lake Bled is one of the most visited attractions in Slovenia. The beautiful views of the lake and the small island it surrounds brings thousands of visitors every year. The best way to reach the island is taking pletna, a traditional gondola in the Bled area. Once on the island, visitors must walk up ninety-nine steps to reach the island’s church. It is considered good luck to ring the church’s bell when visiting the island.
Take off on a special trip around the Triglav National Park.
The Emerald River Adventure is a jam-packed full-day tour that brings you to the most beautiful spots, challenges you to a few easy hikes and white water rafting plus swimming beside a waterfall. Experienced guides will tell you all about the geography of the area and bring off the beaten path to hidden gems.
Only two hours drive away you can go by the coast road, along the border of Italy, through the pretty towns of Koper and Izola. Maybe stopping off for a coffee on the way before reaching your hotel in Portoroz.
Spend the rest of the day lying by the pool or having a swim in the sea. In the evening take a stroll along to Piran for a pre-dinner glass of Slovenian wine and watch the sunset.
Spend the day at the pool and the beach.
On your last day take a stroll or rent a bike in the nearby Sečovlje Salina Nature Park. The fascinating landscape plays host to one of the only still functioning traditional salt flats in the Mediterranean. This salt is the feature of the unique outdoor spa Lepa Vida. Bath in the healing brine water and let your worries fade away.
It may be your last day but not your last time in Slovenia, you’ll already be planning your return trip before you leave!
