Getting around the small nation of Singapore is easy. The city-state has an excellent public transport system, plenty of taxis, a ride-hailing service, and well-maintained sidewalks. With around 720 square km in the entire country, it’s easy to explore the highlights and a few hidden gems in just a few days.
Rail service is expansive and constantly growing. Nearly all of Singapore’s main attractions have an MRT station within a few minutes walk. If you’re exploring on your own, consider buying a Singapore Tourist Pass valid for 1-3 days for unlimited travel on most trains and buses. To see Singapore from the water, take a bumboat cruise along the river. We recommend taking a night cruise when the city is lit up and the riverbanks are alive with hawker stalls and restaurants.
Destinations further afield, such as the Singapore Zoo, Jurong Bird Park, and the Treetop Walk are better reached by car. We recommend arranging these visits in advance so that your driver will take you directly where you want to go, wait for you, and you won’t need to stand in the ticket queue. If you prefer to visit on your own, the ride-hailing app Grab works well within the city but you can’t always count on finding a driver outside the city.
When booking your time in Singapore with us, we will arrange your airport transfers so that you don’t need to navigate the trains and streets after a long flight. If you prefer to give it a go on your own, there is a staffed tourism information counter at the airport where they will point you in the right direction.
