This 6-night Ride Botswana itinerary is based on the western side of the Okavango Delta. The riding is for experienced riders only, while their non-riding partners can enjoy several other game activities, from safari drives and boat drives, to fishing along the Delta.
The Delta is one of the seven natural wonders of Africa, receiving approximately 11 cubic kilometres of water per year from the annual floods. During the dry winter months, the delta is at its fullest and attracts a large variety of wildlife. In fact, it is known as one of the areas with the highest concentrations of wildlife during this time! The high concentration of permanent and seasonal wildlife around the Delta include elephant, buffalo, hippo, rhino and a wide variety of buck, as well as predators including lion, cheetah, leopard and the Nile crocodile and a large variety of birdlife. This makes the Okavango Delta one of the most exciting regions for game viewing!
This itinerary allows you to ride Botswana on horses that are well-trained and used to the game, allowing riders to get up close to a variety of wild animals – something that’s not always possible from a game vehicle. Rides are fast-paced over varied terrain, and often through deep water, making for some exhilarating rides! There are also plenty of opportunities to slow down the pace. For instance giving you and the horses a bit of a break and take in the scenery.
Non-riding partners will enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, as well as mokoro trips in the Delta, allowing for a unique perspective of the natural surroundings. They can also enjoy relaxing afternoons at the lodge, with binoculars at hand to make sure not to miss any of the passing game, or birding opportunities! Non-riding partners will also receive a slight discount from us on this itinerary!
The first day of your trip will see you arriving at Maun Airport, where a local representative will meet with you and you will be transferred via light aircraft to Macatoo Camp, your accommodation for the next 6 nights.
