"Great accommodation, good food. Well planned stops with kayaking." - Judith S, Dec 2019

"Worth paying more for the suite and outdoor space. The food was amazing (and copious!). We enjoyed this respite from the cities and the activities on offer. The bay is beautiful." - Sue & Tim, Nov 2019

"A most lovely experience with delicious food" / - Leigh D, Oct 2019

"Excellent. Very glad we booked the suite rooms, very spacious and they fitted 2 extra beds for the kids and there was still lots of space!" - Natasha F, Aug 2019

"We loved our suite room - good call on Fleewinter's part! Even with grey skies it was a magical place." - Andrea S, Dec 2017

"Wow, what an experience. Another must do! We were really pleased that we upgraded to a Superior Cabin, well worth the extra money. We also had a sneaky look in the cabin above the Superior Cabin, it was a suite and I would opt for that if I did the trip again. The guide was excellent: his English superb, informative, friendly and very patient, especially when trying to teach me how to canoe. The food on the boat was also excellent." - Gill D, Nov 2017

"The choice for the suites on the Treasure Junk was great, especially as we had a crazy storm on the second day, but we sat on our covered balcony relaxing together rather than having to sit in the communal area. The kayaking was a real bonus for us." - Judith L, August 2017

Offering one night cruises and comfort, this cosy junk is perfect for those who want to feel special without a hefty price tag. From the banging of drums and welcome drink on arrival, to squid fishing after dark and fantastic food, this cruise offers extremely good value for money and a memorable way to experience the beauty of Halong Bay.

The outstanding feature of this cruise however is that it sails further out and takes a completely different route across the bay to any of the other ships. This means that at peak times, while throngs of tourists marvel at specific islets, you can be enjoying uninterrupted views and a more personal experience in a different part of the bay. During our time on board the Treasure Junk we did not spy another boat until the last morning when we visited the bay's largest fishing village - an opportunity not to be missed.

Onboard the boat has 15 cabins, including 13 superior cabins and two suites. The superior cabins on the ground floor are compact but very comfortable with air conditioning, a double or twin bed and marble en-suite bathrooms with rain showers. The suites, on the first floor are more spacious with jacuzzi bath tubs and individual balconies (please note the two suite?s balconies are only divided by a small waist-high fence).

The boat has a large dining room on the first floor, that is always beautifully laid out for lunch and dinner. Doors open onto the deck with tables and chairs for sunset drinks, as well as a sun terrace on the top deck complete with sun loungers, flowers and fauna. Daily breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the cost of the cruise.

Treasure Junk is currently only offering one-night cruises. On the first day all guests will enjoy a leisurely lunch as you sail out into the bay. In the afternoon guests are then given a hour and a half to kayak to an isolated beach where you can swim and sunbathe in peace. The evening is spent on the ship, where you can enjoy a beautiful 5 course meal. The following day the cruise will take guests to the bay's largest floating village, home to about 300 people. The exact itinerary depends on tide and weather conditions. They will then be returned to the junk later that day.

Halong Bay is located approximately three and a half hours from Hanoi by car.

Our tips: This is a charming cruise that we have tried and tested. The suites cost about £20 extra per person per night but if you are after a little extra space and touch of luxury they are worth every penny.

"We loved the Treasure Junk and felt that a route that had been very well trodden was reinvented in a unique and bespoke way." - Jessica W, June 2015.

"A real highlight. Really pleased we altered the itinerary so we could do Treasure Junk. Not being surrounded by other boats was fantastic. The guys on the boat were great - they gave us a questionnaire to score them and as I said to them the only thing I could fault them on was the non appearance of the sun! Kayaking brilliant, squid fishing brilliant, food fantastic (they brought us so much it was untrue!) and really tried hard to keep the kids happy. The setting was amazing and the guide we picked up on the boat was great." Jon Nash, May 2014.
