Getting around the Philippines can be time consuming, especially if you don’t know which boats or flights to take. Traffic in Manila and Cebu is quite heavy so we recommend private drivers who know the traffic patterns. When you book your holiday with Fleewinter, we’ll arrange your transfers in comfortable air-conditioned vehicles with English-speaking drivers. We can’t control the traffic but we can recommend when to plan for city tours and when to plan a few relaxing hours at your hotel.
Getting around in a nation of islands will likely require a few internal flights and boat rides. We recommend flying with Philippine Airlines and AirSWIFT, both of which we can book on your behalf. Between certain islands, a ferry is the fastest and most reliable means of transport. Between Coron and El Nido, we recommend flying with AirSWIFT or taking the Montenegro high-speed ferry. Between Cebu and Bohol, we find Oceanjet provides the most reliable ferry service. We can book these and other ferries for you.
Some routes, such as those in the Cordillera, will require a fair amount of time on the road. We’ll provide a guide in addition to your driver for these rides and make sure you’ll have ample opportunity to stop and stretch your legs along the way. While it is possible to hire a car and drive this route yourself, we don’t recommend it. Navigating through Manila traffic can be tiring long before you reach strenuous mountain roads. Distances between accommodation are great so the days you depart and return to Manila will be long ones.
On the islands of Bohol and Siquijor, and in northern Palawan, we do recommend hiring a scooter for a day if you’re comfortable driving one. Traffic in these areas is light and these regions are easy to navigate. A day exploring on your own wheels can be great fun for the adventurous!
