Our favorite hotel in Manila, The Henry Hotel is nestled within a compound known for arts and creativity. Lush trees dot the grounds of the former residential compound that now hosts art and furniture galleries and one of the Philippines’ most sophisticated fashion ateliers. The hotel is designed with a fierce passion for art, culture, and design using as much of the original structures as possible. This is vintage Manila with contemporary style and comfort.

The hotel has 34 rooms spread across five Liberation-style houses and three different room settings: classic, suite, and the owner’s suite. Featuring mid-century furnishings and modern amenities, each room is tastefully designed to provide a comfortable place to relax. All rooms have ample space to unpack and unwind but we particularly love the suites with their private garden areas and separate sitting rooms. The gorgeous soundproof owner’s suite features a large balcony, walk-in closet, and a sitting room so spacious you could entertain guests. As part of the Henry’s commitment to social enterprises and Filipino businesses, you’ll find locally handmade bath products and a mini bar stocked with local treats.

Apartment 1B, the hotel's restaurant, serves gourmet comfort food including hearty pastas and Wagyu beef. With benches and sitting areas around the garden, there are ample places to curl up with a book or while away the afternoon. We love that wandering the grounds of the Henry Hotel is encouraged and guests are welcome to visit the art gallery and furniture showroom. If you’re lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of next year’s hottest Filipino fashions.

Situated in the southern area of Pasay, it’s a bit closer to the airport than the Makati properties but of course, further from the sites of Intramuros and Rizal Park. We think it’s worth the extra travel time to site-seeing for the beauty and peace of the Henry.
