Day 4 - Quad Bike Adventures to Salt Pans & Crop Circles

Today you will explore the famous salt pans of Maras & the archaeological site of Moray – but by quad bike! Get ready to enjoy the gorgeous landscape of the Andes in this small group tour, starting at Maras – the salt mines located in the middle of a natural landscape that contains more than 3000 salt wells. After that continue to Moray impressive circular “andenería” that shows how they have developed their agriculture. Return to your hotel.

Day 5 - Walking through the Sacred Valley

Begin this morning’s scenic walk alongside San Juan gorge, next to a very wide Inca canal. A narrow path takes you up to the agricultural terraces, which are the only ones in the Valley that are still maintained and used. Your guide will explain the ancient irrigation system. We arrive at the Gate of the Sun, where the Incas used to perform religious ceremonies, take in beautiful views of the valley before descending to Yucay again. Or, if you prefer, zip-lining or rafting can be organised.

Day 6 - Visit Machu Picchu

Board the train to Aguas Calientes (about 2 hours) where you will have some time for lunch before visiting Machu Picchu. The Lost City of the Incas will astonish you with its terraces, ceremonial shrines, steps and urban areas. Energy is all around us. Afterwards take the bus again to go back to the town, where you will spend the night hotel El Mapi (superior rooms, dinner included).

Day 7 - Machu Picchu at Sunrise & The Train to Cusco

Today you have a second chance to enjoy Machu Picchu by your own. We suggest an early bus ride to Machu Picchu in order to see the sunrise. First bus at 05:30 hrs. After your morning exploration, board the bus again back to Aguas Calientes. Once in Aguas Calientes get ready to take the train back to Poroy station, the closest to Cusco. Here you will be met by your driver to transfer you to the lovely el Retablo hotel (superior rooms).

Day 8 - Half day tour of Cusco

Without a doubt this city needs a morning just to enjoy walking its gorgeous stone streets, listening the Andean music and falling in love with a glorious past, the Inca past that had the capacity to create this civilisation that we are lucky enough to experience with our senses. You will visit the Coricancha the Temple of the Sun and the Cusco’s Cathedral before enjoying the afternoon at leisure.

Day 9 - See the Insta-famous Rainbow Mountain!

Set off early this morning with your private guide and driver to Quechuyno (about 2.5 hours drive). From here we start walking through the Andes with amazing landscapes. After less than an hour hiking going up until you get your first glimpse of the Instagram-famous Rainbow Mountain (altitude 5,200m). Lunch is served at a local restaurant before heading back to Cusco.

Day 10 - Make your way to the Paracas Peninsular

Today we will fly you back to Lima, where you will drive down south to Paracas, stopping at the Paracas National Reserve on the way, near Pisco city on Peru’s south coast. It spans desert, ocean and islands and is home to wildlife like sea lions, dolphins and migratory birds. Upon arrival to Paracas, check into your hotel – Hacienda Paracas, framed by scenic ocean views, lush tropical gardens (2 standard rooms).

Day 11 - Visit the Ballesta Islands

This morning, on a shared cruise from Paracas, you will visit the Ballestas Islands. Along the way, we can see the Candelabro, an enormous drawing on the side of one of the immense sand dunes that run along the coast. At the Ballestas you can observe a seal colony in their natural habitat and if you are lucky you might spot a blue footed booby or penguin! The afternoon is free at leisure.

Day 12 - Sand boarding in the dunes

Enjoy the morning at leisure.  In the afternoon, don’t miss a special sunset on board of the buggies. You will go up and down on a series of large and small dunes, feeling the wind in your hair and the adrenaline in your belly! The sand dunes of Peru are always a big hit and a bit of a surprise with travellers. Return to the hotel for the evening at leisure.

Day 13 - Enjoy a pool day

We’ve planned nothing for you today so you can enjoy a day at leisure by the pool, which is something of a novelty in Peru! Paracas is near the coast, and whilst it is not a real “beachy” destination, you can relax in the salty air and make the most of your hotel pool!

This your morning your private driver and guide will drive you back to Lima Airport (about 3.5 hours drive) in time for your flight home (not included). Normally flights to the UK are evening flights.
