It can be hard to know where to start when planning a trip to the Maldives – which atoll to stay in, what time of year to go, which resort to choose. By far, the easiest thing is to call our team on 0207 112 0019 or email us on maldives@fleewinter.com to pick our brains.
Wherever you stay, you can be certain to find perfect beaches, and easy access to an astonishing underwater world.
Beyond that, the Maldives highlights below might help you begin to shortlist your priorities!
The Maldives is a year-round destination but there are differences between the various atolls. If your priority is diving, surfing or marine life, we would recommend you visit different atolls at different times of the year.
North & South Malé Atolls
These are where you will find the main concentration of world-class resorts, and all are just a short speedboat ride from Malé Airport making them extremely convenient. There is a great choice of resorts, many offer PADI certification, and the surfing is very good in the North Malé Atoll.
Northern Atolls
These are the least developed Atolls in the Maldives, and you will find the very best diving and snorkelling opportunities here for all levels. The Baa Atoll has a Unesco Biosphere Reserve, offering especially diverse marine life and perfect water.
Ari Atoll
You can expect perfect beaches and fascinating diving here. For experienced divers, deep-diving in the North Ari Atoll provides the opportunity to see hammerhead sharks while whales sharks thrive in the South Ari Atoll.
Southern Atolls
Here you will find some of the most luxurious resorts in the Maldives, unique wreck diving opportunities plus great surfing.

The Maldives is just a couple of hours flight from Colombo in Sri Lanka and the southern airports in India.
These are some of our most popular pairings.
