The Maldives is so much more than a beach holiday

There’s no need to choose between luxurious surrounds and the ability to explore the breathtaking atolls of the Maldives. Instead, hop aboard a private Dhoni with a full crew including top class chef and create your own itinerary with your captain, balancing your preferences with the highlights of the Maldives at the time of your visit. Chase whale sharks in January, or manta rays in September. Seek out the best surfing hotspots. Visit the traditional islands, or snorkel out to your own deserted beach.

Surfers can take advantage of the lower prices in the peak of monsoon season as this is when you get the best waves – but the weather in the Maldives is reliable all year round so it’s a win-win for surfing fans.

The North Malé Atoll is very convenient being only a short journey from the airport, and offers good surfing opportunities, or head to the Outer Atolls if you have the time.

Experienced Divers

The Maldives is a world-class diving destination for good reason. You can swim with whale sharks, hammerhead sharks and giant manta rays. There are wreck diving opportunities including the British Loyalty Wreck. And don’t forget the abundant and beautiful coral – despite coral bleaching events a few years ago, regrowth is promising and concerted efforts are being made on all islands to help the coral recover. Indeed, some resorts are inviting guests to get involved to capture photographs on snorkelling excursions, a fun and valuable experience that is really helping the community monitor and support the marine life.

Dive sites are shared, but there are certainly some resorts better suited to experienced divers looking for adventure.  Contact us to discuss your diving holiday.

Learn to Dive

You can’t visit the Maldives without taking a look at the vast world beneath the water, and for many snorkelling only tempts them to explore deeper. And with such warm, crystal clear waters, you couldn’t ask for a more attractive environment to learn. You will certainly be well rewarded for your effort while on holiday, as the gloriously coloured coral reefs just outside your resort will be teeming with shoals of fish, and manta rays, turtles, dolphins and even whale sharks are also close by.

Almost every resort in the Maldives will have a spa, but they are not all created equal. You will find some of the very best spas in the world in the Maldives, offering not just exquisite treatments but unimaginably beautiful spaces. And there is nothing like the sound of the ocean during a massage followed by a barefoot wander home along a pristine beach.
