Surrounded by a protected marine reserve, Redang Island is home to gorgeous beaches, rainforest trails, and incredible diving and snorkelling. The Taaras has a variety of room types and sizes as well as countless options for things to do. Large enough to please couples and families, The Taaras sprawls across gardens and hills.

Rooms are comfortably appointed with hardwood floors, and ample windows for natural light. Garden Deluxe and Suite rooms have private verandahs and are located within the hotel's gardens. Suites are more spacious with separate living and bedrooms. Cliff Hill Deluxe rooms have private balconies overlooking the gardens below. Cliff Bay Twin and Suite rooms are generously sized with private balconies. Suites have ocean views and are exceptionally large. Within each setting, connecting rooms are available.

Ocean Front Suites have separate living and bed rooms, private verandahs, and can be open to the sounds of the ocean. One Ocean Front Master Suite is just steps from the beach. In addition to separate lounge and bedroom, it has a butler's pantry, dining room, private balcony, and the dedicated service of a butler. The five-bedroom Taaras Villa sits atop the cliff with an infinity pool, lounges, dining area, and butler service.

A variety of activities are on offer including parasailing, windsurfing, jungle trekking, kayaking, snorkelling, diving, cooking classes, sunrise and sunset cruises. Kids' activities can also be arranged. An onsite dive centre offers many levels of PADI instruction. The Taaras Spa offers a variety of treatments including massage, scrubs, wraps, facials, manicures, and pedicures.

Beach Brasserie serves western fare including fresh seafood with ocean views. The Asean, an all-day dining outlet, focuses on Malaysian cuisine with international favourites. Meals at The Asean are served buffet-style. Located next to the pool, Asean Terrace Lounge offers drinks and small bites throughout the afternoon and evening. Situated at the beach, Bayu Bar serves drinks, cocktails, and beach-friendly snacks and light meals.

The Taaras can be reached by the hotel's private 10-seater speedboat from Merang. The ride takes approximately one hour. The Merang jetty is a 45-minute drive from the airport in Kuala Terengganu. Private charter flights to Redang are also available from Kuala Lumpur's Subang airport. A limited number of restaurants and shops can be found in a nearby town, a short walk from the hotel.
