A serene retreat 15-minutes from Kota Kinabalu, Manukan Island is covered in rainforest and lined with white sand beaches. The island's only resort offers a variety of chalets.
Hillside chalets, available in single and double-story options, are set apart from the beaches visited by day-trippers and we like the extra privacy this provides. Reaching them does require a bit of a walk up stairs and along elevated platforms. These recently renovated chalets are light and airy, many with gorgeous views over the water. All have indoor and outdoor seating areas. A two-bedroom beachside chalet is a great option for families. Beachside chalets are just as lovely as the hillside chalets and much easier to access from the resort's main facilities and beach. These are quite close to the public areas of the island so are a bit noisier during the day.
Manukan Island Resort offers a full restaurant and bar. Half board options are available. A small, separately owned restaurant is open during the day just off the beach. Marked walking trails allow guests to explore the island without a guide. An on-site dive centre can arrange diving around Manukan, Sapi, and the other islands of the marine park. Other activities such as island-hopping, snorkeling, and parasailing can all be arranged.
