Getting to Madagascar

There are no direct flights from the UK to Madagascar, with operators flying from London via their local hub en route to Madagascar.  The best, cheapest and fastest options would be to fly via Paris or Johannesburg.

The Johannesburg option: Fly directly from the UK to OR Tambo International Airport (JNB), Johannesburg, South Africa via the airline of your choice, connecting with SA Airlink which has daily flights between JNB and Ivato International Airport (TNR), Antananarivo, Madagascar. This is the best and most reliable long-haul option to get to the capital, Antananarivo. Alternatively, flights between JNB and L’aéroport de Fascene (NOS), Nosy Be, and Madagascar via SA Airlink occur every Sunday.

The Paris option: Air France has direct flights on alternating days between Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), Paris, France via JNB to TNR. This is the second-best long-haul option. There are other daily flight options available with other carriers, however these require connecting flights with possibly lengthy layover times and are typically four to five times more expensive than the Air France direct flight.

The Madagascar option: The third option would be to use Madagascar Airlines which operates direct non-stop flights between Orly, Paris (ORY) and TNR.  These flights are however twice a week, so may not fit in with planned itineraries.
