This is one of our favourite spots in the coffee-rich Bolaven Plateau of South Laos because of its luscious green tropical gardens, riverside location and cosy chalet rooms. The project started in 1994, when Sinouk returned back Laos after having spent more than 30 years of his life in France. Three years later he established the coffee plantation and slowly began building the quirky and intimate resort on his land.

The resort is made up of three chalets, which were all built at different times as the resort has slowly expanded to now have 18 rooms. We love the original building, Chalet 1, because of its riverside location - it has four rooms, with a dining room, salon lounge room and veranda above the rim of the creek. The suite room in this chalet (room 104) is by far the best option; the large bamboo room is very light and airy and there is a living space at one end, which is lower than the rest of the bedroom.

Chalet 2 offers four comfortable rooms with garden and coffee views while the newest addition, Chalet 3 offers the smartest rooms of all. This newest pavillion features 6 superior rooms and 4 master rooms. It is built to maximise the indoor space, room and bathroom, and outdoor volumes with wide private balcony or terrace. All the rooms are fully furnished, with air conditioned. Each one is a different colour - expect blue, green or yellow walls and is completely different to the other more traditional chalets.

Guests can learn about the coffee-making site on process, and perhaps even see workers in the grounds planting or harvesting the coffee depending on the time of year you are visiting. There is a lovely restaurant on site, which is a wooden lao style shaped pavilion surrounded by gardens. Here you can get a mix of Lao food with some western options…. and lots of coffee by the cup!
