Jahazi House is spectacular from the moment you approach it by boat. The house is built of coral block, plastered in the local neru finish, tinted a soft ochre-yellow. It is designed along traditional lines around an inner courtyard, which holds a very private swimming pool, cooling the public rooms and bedrooms.

The master suite is to the back of the house on the first floor, overlooking the pool and the sea. It is entered through a salon, with working desk and 2 lounge sofa beds. There are 2 display cupboards. The salon leads into the master bedroom with large Lamu wooden 4-poster bed and windows in all 4 walls. The bedroom has a dressing room with ample built-in cupboards and a separate bathroom with twin sinks, toilet and shower.

Jahazi House has a further 4 en-suite bedrooms (3 double, 1 twin) on the ground floor around the inner courtyard, each with a private veranda with table, chairs and a 4-poster Lamu bed.

There are numerous comfortable places (barazas) to sit and relax around the house. One is built into the first floor and covered with bright comfortable cushions. It is the most popular area for games, reading, gathering before meals and for sundowners, as it is nearest the bar. A second baraza is in the main reception hall and comprises three large carved and cushioned Lamu benches. Other areas are by the pool and there is one baraza built into the side of the house, which is a good place to relax if it becomes a little windy. The very popular swing beds are behind the house on a covered wooden deck facing the garden. There are three dining areas and a fully equipped bar which is located on the first floor.

At Jahazi House you can indulge in a variety of water sports. Besides swimming and snorkeling, there is water skiing and wake-boarding and you can go sailing in a dhow, hire hobie cats and go creek or deep sea fishing. It is also worth visiting the local fishing village of Kipungani.
