This cosy back-to-basics yurt camp encourages you to take some time out from the fast-paced modern world and experience the humble nomadic way of life that can be had in Kyrgyzstan – for a night or two at least. From here, you can learn all about the caravanserai of Tash Rabat, or ‘stone fortress’ in Kyrgyz. Now a historical monument, this unique caravanserai was once a place where travellers could stop to rest before continuing their journey along the Silk Road.

After trekking in the valley and exploring the caravanserai, head back to Tash Rabat Yurt Camp and soothe any aching muscles in the sauna. The camp’s remote location makes it a spectacular spot for stargazing, too.

The 15 yurts each sleep up to four people and are heated twice a day. All yurts have electricity and comfortable beds with warm blankets, pillows and a sleeping bag – plus added extras such as felt slippers. Toilet facilities are shared at the camp. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served in the dining yurt, decorated in Kyrgyz rugs, colourful art, wooden tables and benches. This will be a traditional experience to remember.
