Enjoy the simpler things in life at this modest and traditional basic yurt camp. Owner Jergal looks after the camp with his family and is also the caretaker of Tash Rabat’s ancient caravanserai. The caravanserai was once a roadside inn on the Silk Road and has become a mysterious medieval monument. It’s a must-see in Tash Rabat and you’ll be in the perfect place to visit, as the camp sits next door.
Jergal and his family are wonderful hosts, welcoming you into their home and helping you discover what life in rural Kyrgyzstan is really like. This intimate camp is set up in their garden, with five rustic yurts which each sleep up to four people. Inside, you can expect majestic Kyrgyz fabrics, giving the yurt a cosy and authentic feel, and wooden beds with fresh linen and warm blankets for a comfy night’s sleep. Toilet facilities and washbasins are shared at the camp.
Hiking is a favourite activity here. Once you’ve explored Tash Rabat’s historic caravanserai, pull on your walking boots and head into the valley. You’ll be spoilt with spellbinding scenery and might be joined by a few local characters – from herds of cows to wild horses. Back at the camp, Jergal and his family will cook up a feast of tasty Kyrgyz cuisine and invite you to join them for dinner in their home.
