This 14-day Kenya Highlights itinerary offers the very best in Kenyan accommodation. This itinerary is suitable for those looking for an authentic safari holiday whilst staying in a series of high-end lodges. Your trip starts off with a 3-night stay in the Samburu region. The word ‘Samburu’ means ‘butterflies’ in the Masai language. As a matter of fact, the region was named this way because of the colourful clothing worn by the Samburu people. The Samburu inhabitants still embrace the traditional way of life. For tis reason it makes this an interesting place for some cultural education. Moreover it is also a wildlife rich area, home to a large elephant population. Hence, some exciting game viewing awaits you! Furthermore, the reserve is home to the five Northern species – the Grevy Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk and the Beisa Oryx.

The next part of your Kenya Highlights trip takes you to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. The Lewa Conservancy is 250km2 and covers diverse landscapes including the Ngare Ndare Forest. For this reason it a wonderful place for game viewing. As it offers a diverse range of game, including the ‘big 5’! Following this,  you move on to the sacred region of the Masai Mara. The Masai Mara, deeply rooted in ancestral history. Mostly known for its dense predator population and above all, one of the regions through which the Great Migration passes from late July until the end of October every year. Hence, making this a very exciting time to visit this area! In addition to the brilliant wildlife, the region is also home to both a large variety of birdlife, and beautiful plains landscapes all year round.

Finally your Kenya Highlights holiday takes you to Manda Island part of the Lamu archipelagos. This exquisite set of small islands are found off the Northern coast of Kenya and are steeped in a rich culture and history. Manda Island is one of the bigger archipelagos and has much to offer in terms of natural beauty as well as entertainment – from water sports to traditional game viewing.

Your Itinerary

Days 1-3 - Samburu Region

Arrival in Nairobi where you will meet up with a local representative, who will assist you to Wilson Airport, catching an internal flight to the Samburu region. The first 3 nights of your Kenya adventure will be spent at Sasaab. This luxury lodge offers stunning views and a variety of activities for couples and families. Spend your days going on game drives and enjoying guided nature walks, while spending the evenings enjoying fine Kenyan & Moroccan flavour infusions. Your stay includes full board and game package.

3 nights at Sasaab Lodge

Days 4-6 - Lewa Conservancy

Day 4 of your trip takes you on a short flight to Sirikoi Lodge, where you will spend the next 3 nights. Sirikoi is a beautiful and luxurious family-run lodge, offering some of the finest Kenyan hospitality. In addition to the traditional safari activities, go for a walk in the Ngare Ndare Forest, visit the Lewa conservancy or Orphan Elephant Rehabilitation Project, and tour one of the local villages. Other activities include quad-biking and helicopter and plane excursions which include a tour of Mt. Kenya!

3 nights at Sirikoi Lodge

Days 7-9 - Masai Mara

It’s time to move on to the Masai Mara, one of the most sacred regions of Kenya. You will spend 3 nights at Angama Mara, located high above the Great African Rift Valley where the iconic film “Out of Africa” was filmed. This is a truly romantic camp, offering safari drives, guided bush walks and hot air ballooning over the Mara. Your stay here will be interspersed with bush barbeques and cultural entertainment and perhaps a romantic picnic overlooking the Great Rift Valley.

3 nights at Angama Mara

Days 10-13 - Lamu

The last part of your Kenya Highlights trip will take you to the Lamu archipelago, the perfect combination of bush and beach. You will spend 4 nights staying at Manda Bay, a private and luxurious beach lodge. Enjoy some deep-sea fishing or water activities like water-skiing, wakeboarding, windsurfing and kayaking, and go on a traditional safari drive, or explore the Manda Island ruins all on the same day!

Day 14 - Return to Nairobi

Today is the last day of your Kenya Highlights trip. Enjoy a last breakfast and check out of the lodge by 10:00 am. Spend your last afternoon exploring the beaches, perhaps enjoying a last water activity before catching a flight to Wilson Airport. From Wilson Airport you will fly to Jomo Kenyatta International before catching the connecting flight back home.
