Loisaba is a 61,000 acre private ranch and game sanctuary in the vast Laikipia Wilderness of northern Kenya. The Lodge sits high up on a ridge overlooking a small watering hole, with views to Mount Kenya beyond. From the deck of the Lodge, equipped with telescope for close up viewing, you can see giraffe, zebra, gazelle, elephant and wild dog vying for the best drinking spots.

Loisaba Lodge has 7 luxury en-suite bedrooms, 4 doubles and 3 twins (which can become doubles if necessary). Each room has its own private deck and a magnificent view. The rooms are all very well appointed and combine elegance and style and use beautiful local artefacts. Many of the furnishings have been designed and made at Loisaba.

Dining at Loisaba Lodge is fabulous. You can choose between silver service with international and innovative cuisine to match or a meal served out in the bush. The Lodge has a swimming pool, tennis court, boules court and massage facilities.

Loisaba Star Beds provide a truly unique and memorable experience. Spend a night or two under the vast star-studded skies, while a local Samburu guide keeps watch down below. Each star bed is designed on a raised, handcrafted, wooden platform that is partly covered with a thatched roof. The beds themselves have mosquito nets and can be wheeled out on to the open deck so that you can lie back and gaze in awe at the countless stars overhead. Alternatively they can be left under the shelter of the roof. There is also a bathroom and bucket shower, as well as a wardrobe.

There are two sets of stars beds, with 2 doubles and 1 twin platform. The Kiboko (which means hippo) Star Beds are 20 minutes drive from Loisaba Lodge and overlook a waterhole, while the Koija Star Beds are 30 minutes drive from the Lodge and overlook the Ewaso Nviro River.

Meals are taken in the nearby open-sided dining area warmed by log fires in the evening. Samburu warriors invite you to join them in ritual dances after you dine.

At Loisaba you can choose how to spend your time. There are driving and walking safaris under the guidance of Samburu guides who have unparalleled knowledge of the local animals, birdlife and flora. You can also take a safari by camel or go horse-riding (although you need to have some experience of this beforehand). There is also fishing, river rafting, mountain biking, croquet and visits to the local village and nearby rhino sanctuary.

We recommend combining your stay here with another safari camp or a beach holiday in Zanzibar.
