Family Friendly Jordan

Jordan is one of our favourite countries in the Middle East as it combines all the best parts of the region. There are incredible historic sites, stunning scenery, delicious food and super friendly people. The distances are relatively short so you can do a lot of exciting activities on your Jordan family holiday and still have time to relax at the Dead Sea. Come pretend to be Indiana Jones in Petra or follow the footsteps of Luke Skywalker in Wadi Rum, the possibilities are endless.

Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Aqaba

Arrival at Aqaba airport, our representative will be awaiting  you to help you with the visa procedures, and then walk with you through the customs. Your driver will be waiting at the arrival hall, holding a name sign and he will transfer you to the 4* City Tower Hotel in Aqaba for overnight stay.

Day 2 - Dead Sea

Check out of your hotel and drive via the Wadi Araba desert to the Dead Sea, lowest point on the earth’s surface.  Children will enjoy floating in the salty waters and getting dirty in the healing mud. Careful – the water is extremely salty so avoid eye contact. The rest of the day children can play in a pool and parents could visit the amazing spa.

Day 3&4 - Dead Sea

Enjoy relaxing time at the resort or plan a day trip based on your interest. If you are into history we suggest a visit to the Roman City of Jerash and the Bethany where John the Baptist baptised Jesus. Another great day out is a visit to the Ma’In Hot Springs, a series of hot mineral springs and waterfalls. However from April to October wild canyoning adventure to Wadi Mujib is a must for adults. For families we would choose another safer alternative.

Day 5 - Dead Sea – Madaba – Mt. Nebo – Little Petra – Petra

Today there is a long day ahead of you as you will be travelling to the South to Petra. At 8.00 AM, after breakfast your tour today starts with visiting the St. George Church in Madaba with its famous mosaic map. Drive to Mt Nebo where Moses viewed the Promised Land. Time permitting you will also visit Little Petra today otherwise transfer directly to Petra for overnight at the 5* Hayat Zaman Resort.

Day 6 - Petra

Full day to explore Petra, one of the seven world wonders. Entry by Siq and visit the Treasury, Street of Facades, Theater, Colonnaded Street etc. after lunch inside Petra you will still have time to visit the Monastery and/or the High Place of Sacrifice today. It is a lot of climbing but definitely worth the views! Overnight 5* Hayat Zaman Resort.

  • Local Turkish Bath, 1.5/2.5 hrs horse ride around the mountains of Petra

Day 7 - Petra - Wadi Rum

After breakfast drive to Wadi Rum Visitors Centre. Before starting with the jeep tour you can enjoy an hour camel ride from Wadi Rum Village to Lawrence’s Spring. A jeep tour is the best way to discover lots of sites in Wadi Rum. The jeep will stop at each site giving you time to walk/scramble around and maybe even climb up on some of the beautiful natural formed bridges in Wadi Rum. Enjoy a freshly prepared barbeque lunch and embrace the stunning setting.  Dinner and overnight at Khaled campsite in Wadi Rum.

Day 8 - Wadi Rum - Aqaba

After breakfast you will drive to Aqaba for a free day and overnight. Relax at the beach, discover the town of Aqaba or book a snorkeling cruise including lunch! Overnight at 5* Movenpick City Centre Hotel in Aqaba.

Day 9 - Ahlan wa Sahlan!

Transfer to the airport for departure. You would need to leave the hotel 3 hours in advance (2 hours for the check in and less than 1 hour driving from Aqaba to Aqaba Airport).

Amman
If you're looking to immerse yourself in a labyrinth of souks and bazaars, where all kinds of colourful and exotic fruits, clothes and jewellery spill out from their stalls onto the streets, then look no further than Amman. What really makes the city unique, however, is how it has managed to combine both the ancient and the modern like no other city in the region. As you wander the bustling interwoven streets that flow through the valleys of Downtown you're forever in the shadow of Jabal Al Qal'a - the highest hill in the city, and home to the sprawling ruins of the Roman citadel. In fact, wherever you go in Amman you'll find ancient history around every corner, such as the spectacular Temple of Hercules and the magisterial Umayyad Palace. When visiting Jordan, Amman is one of the must-see places on your visit.
Jerash
The Roman ruins of Jerash are among the most well-preserved in the world; so well in fact that it's very easy to lose yourself in its history and imagine how it was back in its day. There's the hippodrome, where chariot races were once held, Hadrian's arch, built purposely for a visit from the emperor Adrian, and the Corinthian columns of the Temple of Artemis. If you love history make sure it's on your itinerary.
Petra
Jordan is famously home to one of the seven modern wonders of the world - the ancient, rose red city of Petra - which is so utterly captivating that it's reason alone to travel there. You arrive at Petra through the Siq, a long narrow canyon formed over many years, which gradually opens out onto the most elaborate of Petra's facades - the treasury. Carved out of sandstone onto the face of the rock itself, the size and grandeur of this sight will simply take your breath away, making it the perfect introduction to this awe-inspiring city. If you have the time, don't miss the chance to wander Petra by night - the magical, candlelit facades make for the experience of a lifetime.
Wadi Rum
The deserts of the Wadi Rum are simply packed with things to see and do. Whether you fancy camping and stargazing under a perfect night sky, rolling down immense sand dunes, riding in 4x4s with experienced guides, or simply pretending to be Lawrence of Arabia - here at FleeWinter we can help you do them all. You'll discover Bedouin tented camps, fantastic natural rock bridges, ancient drawings carved into the stones thousands of years ago, all set against the gorgeous red and yellow backdrop of the desert itself. Dead Sea
What trip to Jordan would be complete without a visit to the Dead Sea? It's impossible not to be amazed at the salinity and viscosity of the water as you wade in, desperately trying to make your foot touch the floor - something which catches all first-timers by surprise. Be sure to take a newspaper with you for the customary floating and reading pic, and be sure to treat your skin to a good soak in the rich, black, mineral-infused mud you'll find along the shore. The most beautiful health spa you'll ever visit.
Aqaba
The waters of Aqaba are among the most colourful in the world, so be sure to take the time to try a little snorkelling. Even right by the coast you can float over vast, sloping coral gardens but go a little further to the King Abdullah Reef in the middle of the Red Sea and you can share the water with turtles, rays, and huge shoals of brightly coloured neon fish. Be sure to take an underwater camera.
Dana Nature Reserve
Dana is Jordan’s largest nature reserve, covering spectacular mountains and wadis along the face of the Great Rift Valley. From scorching sand dunes in the west to cool mountain tops in the east, the Dana Biosphere Reserve is home to a great variety of wildlife. There are plants and animals characteristic of true desert, of Mediterranean forests and of the dry plains of Russia. In fact, Dana is really a melting pot of species from three continents: Europe, Africa and Asia.
Madaba
Madaba, known as the “City of Mosaics" is best known for its spectacular Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics. Madaba is home to the famous 6th century Mosaic Map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land. With two million pieces of vividly coloured local stone, it depicts hills and valleys, villages and towns as far as the Nile Delta.
