Try our classic Jordan tour and spend eight luxurious days discovering its hidden secrets, traversing gorgeous picturesque desert environments, immersing yourself in a culture which is steeped  in both the ancient as well as the modern. From the breathtaking stone city of Petra, the towering Citadel in Amman, the majestic ruins of Roman theatres, mystical monasteries, pristine desert sands and vistas which Moses himself allegedly looked down on, this journey of a thousand and one tales is certain to captivate.

Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Amman

Start your journey in Amman, Jordan’s lively capital that effortlessly mixes ancient history with modern charm. It’s the perfect kick-off to an adventure where you can dive into bustling markets, unearth archaeological treasures, and immerse yourself in a rich cultural tapestry.

Upon arrival at Amman Queen Alia International Airport, our representative will be there to assist you with all visa procedures and guide you through customs. Your driver will be waiting for you in the arrival hall, holding a name sign. You will then be transferred to your hotel.

Day 2 - Amman - Jerash - Amman City Tour

After a hearty breakfast, your day kicks off with a visit to the ancient Roman city of Jerash. Picture yourself strolling along paved streets, exploring colonnaded walkways, and taking in the sights of hilltop temples, theatres, spacious public squares, baths, fountains, and city walls. Once back in Amman, immerse yourself in a two-hour city tour of the downtown area. Discover various captivating sites and museums, including the Archaeological Museum, the Folklore Museum, The Citadel, and the Amphitheatre. Everywhere you look, you’ll catch glimpses of the city’s much older past (just a heads up, museums are closed on Tuesdays).

Day 3 - Madaba - Mt Nebo - Kerak - Petra

After breakfast, it’s time for you to embark on a journey to Wadi Musa City via the King’s Highway. Along the way, explore Madaba, Mount Nebo, and Kerak Castle. Upon arrival in Petra, check in and spend the night at your Petra hotel.

Madaba is renowned for the famous 6th-century Mosaic map of Jerusalem & the Holy Land. Take in the spectacular Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics and explore St. George’s Church. Mount Nebo, or Moses Mountain, situated 10 kilometers west of Madaba, offers breathtaking views of the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, West Bank, and Jerusalem, believed to be the alleged sites of the tomb of Moses.

Your last stop is Kerak Castle, a Crusaders’ Castle constructed on a triangular plateau dating back to the 12th century. It’s a day filled with historical exploration and scenic wonders.

Day 4 - Petra

Today explore the captivating Nabatean Red Rose city of Petra, hailed as one of the 7 world wonders and designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. Immerse yourself in its enchanting surroundings by entering the city through a 1-kilometer long, narrow gorge, flanked by towering cliffs reaching a height of 80 meters on either side. Marvel at the vibrant colors and distinctive formations of the rocks as you proceed. The site is vast, boasting hundreds of intricately carved rock-cut tombs, a treasury, Roman-style theatres, temples, sacrificial altars, and colonnaded streets. Petra promises a journey into an ancient world of architectural marvels and historical significance.

Optional activities for today: Petra by Night (each Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evening), Petra Kitchen cooking course, Local Turkish Bath, 1.5/2.5 hrs horse ride around the mountains of Petra

Day 5 - Petra - Wadi Rum

Proceed to visit Little Petra, also known as Al Beidha (the White One) due to the pale rock colours. Little Petra, or Siq al-Barid (literally “the cold canyon”), is an archaeological site situated north of Petra and the town of Wadi Musa. It is a Nabataean site featuring buildings carved into the walls of the sandstone canyons. As its name suggests, it is considerably smaller, consisting of three broader open areas connected by a 450-metre (1,480 ft) canyon. It is part of the Petra Archaeological Park, although accessed separately.

Venture further south in Jordan to explore additional significant sites, including Wadi Rum. Discover Wadi Rum on a 2-hour jeep ride into the Jordanian desert! T.E. Lawrence aptly described Wadi Rum as “Vast, echoing and god-like,” while the locals refer to it as the “Valley of the Moon.”

Day 6 - Wadi Rum - Aqaba

After breakfast, you’ll head to Aqaba for a laid-back day at the beach. Take the morning to explore the town of Aqaba or, for an added treat, book a snorkelling cruise that includes lunch!

Day 7 - Aqaba- Dead Sea

After breakfast, head towards the Dead Sea to unwind and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Situated in the Jordan Valley, 55 km southeast of Amman, the Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth. This extraordinary natural and spiritual landscape is one of the world’s most spectacular. As the lowest body of water on earth, it also holds the title of the world’s richest source of natural salts, concealing wonderful treasures accumulated over thousands of years.

Day 8 - Ahlan wa Sahlan!

Transfer to the airport for departure.

You’ll need to leave the hotel 3 hours in advance (2 hours for check-in and just under an hour’s drive from Amman to Amman Queen Alia Airport).

Amman
If you're looking to immerse yourself in a labyrinth of souks and bazaars, where all kinds of colourful and exotic fruits, clothes and jewellery spill out from their stalls onto the streets, then look no further than Amman. What really makes the city unique, however, is how it has managed to combine both the ancient and the modern like no other city in the region. As you wander the bustling interwoven streets that flow through the valleys of Downtown you're forever in the shadow of Jabal Al Qal'a - the highest hill in the city, and home to the sprawling ruins of the Roman citadel. In fact, wherever you go in Amman you'll find ancient history around every corner, such as the spectacular Temple of Hercules and the magisterial Umayyad Palace. When visiting Jordan, Amman is one of the must-see places on your visit.
Jerash
The Roman ruins of Jerash are among the most well-preserved in the world; so well in fact that it's very easy to lose yourself in its history and imagine how it was back in its day. There's the hippodrome, where chariot races were once held, Hadrian's arch, built purposely for a visit from the emperor Adrian, and the Corinthian columns of the Temple of Artemis. If you love history make sure it's on your itinerary.
Petra
Jordan is famously home to one of the seven modern wonders of the world - the ancient, rose red city of Petra - which is so utterly captivating that it's reason alone to travel there. You arrive at Petra through the Siq, a long narrow canyon formed over many years, which gradually opens out onto the most elaborate of Petra's facades - the treasury. Carved out of sandstone onto the face of the rock itself, the size and grandeur of this sight will simply take your breath away, making it the perfect introduction to this awe-inspiring city. If you have the time, don't miss the chance to wander Petra by night - the magical, candlelit facades make for the experience of a lifetime.
Wadi Rum
The deserts of the Wadi Rum are simply packed with things to see and do. Whether you fancy camping and stargazing under a perfect night sky, rolling down immense sand dunes, riding in 4x4s with experienced guides, or simply pretending to be Lawrence of Arabia - here at FleeWinter we can help you do them all. You'll discover Bedouin tented camps, fantastic natural rock bridges, ancient drawings carved into the stones thousands of years ago, all set against the gorgeous red and yellow backdrop of the desert itself. An absolute must.
Dead Sea
What trip to Jordan would be complete without a visit to the Dead Sea? It's impossible not to be amazed at the salinity and viscosity of the water as you wade in, desperately trying to make your foot touch the floor - something which catches all first-timers by surprise. Be sure to take a newspaper with you for the customary floating and reading pic, and be sure to treat your skin to a good soak in the rich, black, mineral-infused mud you'll find along the shore. The most beautiful health spa you'll ever visit.
Aqaba
The waters of Aqaba are among the most colourful in the world, so be sure to take the time to try a little snorkelling. Even right by the coast you can float over vast, sloping coral gardens but go a little further to the King Abdullah Reef in the middle of the Red Sea and you can share the water with turtles, rays, and huge shoals of brightly coloured neon fish. Be sure to take an underwater camera.
Dana Nature Reserve
Dana is Jordan’s largest nature reserve, covering spectacular mountains and wadis along the face of the Great Rift Valley. From scorching sand dunes in the west to cool mountain tops in the east, the Dana Biosphere Reserve is home to a great variety of wildlife. There are plants and animals characteristic of true desert, of Mediterranean forests and of the dry plains of Russia. In fact, Dana is really a melting pot of species from three continents: Europe, Africa and Asia.
Madaba
Madaba, known as the “City of Mosaics" is best known for its spectacular Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics. Madaba is home to the famous 6th century Mosaic Map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land. With two million pieces of vividly coloured local stone, it depicts hills and valleys, villages and towns as far as the Nile Delta.
