15 Bedrooms, Sleeps 30

Yama No Chaya is a fascinating Japanese luxurious ryokan consisting of a single building standing in a bamboo thicket accessible by a suspension bridge over the Hayakawa river. With a rustic atmosphere, excellent cuisine, relaxing hot springs naturally heated by a volcano, this ryokan has been a popular choice among locals and international guests for over 50 years.

It is perfectly located at just a three-minute taxi ride from Hakone Yumoto Station and a eight-minute walk from Tonosawa Station (Hakone Tozan train line is included on the Hakone Pass) where you can start your circuit exploring the natural wonders of the Hakone area.

All the rooms have a charming traditional Japanese atmosphere and wonderful views of the nearby forest. Each room is unique with a different interior arrangement, colour scheme and design. Except for some of the standard rooms, all the rest are equipped with their own personal hot springs either inside the room (recommended room type option) or outdoors.

This Ryokan has the advantage of having its own hot spring, which is known for its clear waters and healing properties: Tonosawa hot spring is one of seven ancient hot springs in Hakone characterised by its crystal clear waters.

Besides the private room hot springs, four other lovely indoor and outdoor hot springs are available for guests.

Kaiseki dining is served with the freshest local and seasonal ingredients and an excellent attention to detail that will stimulate both your eyes and palate.
