"After a long day hiking in the mountains, retreat back to this home-away-from-home and enjoy a glass of wine on the roof terrace, with the quiet hum of local life below"

14 Bedrooms,

3 buildings, 14 between classic double rooms, family rooms and suite, everyone different and studied until the last detail and equipped with air conditioning, LCD satellite TV, free Wifi, minibar, safe and hairdryer in the bathroom.

Relais del Maro is an Albergo Diffuso, made up of individual houses which have been sensitively restored to blend in with the setting. Set within the pretty ancient village of the Maro, just a few kilometres from the Ligurian Sea, this is the ideal place to spend a few nights experiencing local life. The three buildings are located in the village of Borgomaro, a few kilometres from Imperia (a town between Genoa and Nice). We reccomend our clients stay in the main house of Casa Madre, which is also where breakfast, lunch and reception are located.

This hotel epitomises 'service with a smile', and the breakfast (which could also be considered brunch) is particularly well regarded. Their menu always features organic and local produce from the nearby valley and they are very conscious of supporting sustainability as much as possible. Plus, there is prosecco at breakfast - what more could you want!

Their afternoon tea features homemade cakes and other local treats. The favourite plates include biscotti, focaccia and pizza made by 'Aunt Bruna', the unbeatable artisan from Borgomaro!

There is a rooftop swimming pool, which is an ideal place to relax and switch off. Nothing between you the fresh air, the scent of aromatic herbs and vibrant green lawn... Experience the wonderfully slow pace of local life in this remote setting. There is also a great roof terrace, which is a lovely spot to enjoy a drink or a light lunch.

And, when you're not soaking up this unspoilt gem, you can explore this amazing landscape in a multitude of ways. This area is particularly good for hiking and e-bike trips. We also recommend visiting the nearby lakes to cool off during the summer months, and visit to the local bio-diverse farm, where they also produce delicious organic wines. Boat trips along the coast also make for a popular day trip. Please note that this hotel only serves breakfast and lunch, however there are many great local eateries within a stone's throw. An ideal option for adventure lovers and active families.
