If the thought of foraging for a rare truffle has piqued your interest, then this may just be the tour for you. Learn all about the history and traditions surrounding these precious ingredients, before heading out with your private guide and truffle dog on a real-life treasure hunt. Which season you are visiting in will determine what colour truffle you may be lucky enough to uncover. This works perfectly for a long-weekend away or special occasion.
Day 1 - Welcome to the land of white gold
Today you will arrive into Turin airport, from which you will drive out to the rolling Langhe – famously home to the white truffle! You will be staying at a gorgeous boutique hotel in Italy’s gastronomic heartland.More Info
Day 2 - The hunter gatherer
An early start this morning as you head out with your private truffle hunter and his trained dog, in search of local truffles which are often growing beneath the indigenous hazelnut trees. Depending on what time of year you visit, you may find either a black or white truffle. Be prepared to get your hands dirty!
The afternoon is free to spend as you wish. Perhaps take a walk in the beautiful countryside, stopping to refuel on strong Italian coffee.
Day 3 - The chef in you
Today you will partake in a seasonal truffle cooking class, making a full three-course menu (which always includes either fresh pasta or risotto). You will enjoy the fruits of your labour for lunch in the classroom, and pair with a glass of local wine to top it off. This is a very hands-on class, so get ready to get stuck in. Buon appetito!
The rest of the day is free to explore Piedmont under your own steam. We reccomend grabbing a map and discovering the medieval town of Alba on foot. Stop for a gelato in the main piazza.
Day 4 - The end of a love affair
Today marks the end of your Truffle Hunt in Piedmont. You may have time to stop for lunch in one of the local villages before heading back to the airport. There are plenty of truffle delis where you can buy local produce to take home with you and wow dinner party guests. Tartufo will be the word on everybody’s lips!
