Chambal Safari Lodge is a friendly family run lodge located in the heart of beautiful Chambal Valley, around an hour from Agra. Set within a sprawling 35 acre plantation, the lodge is run by birding enthusiast Ram Pratap Singh and his environmental scientist wife Anu, and is an absolute delight for all nature lovers. The team at Chambal Lodge are incredibly knowledgable of the area and abundant wildlife, along with the wonderful local culture of nearby Bateshwar Temple and Holipura Village, and can accompany guests on excursions in to the surrounding areas for a real insight in to this region of India.

The accommodation consists of 13 spacious rooms and cottages, which vary in size and layout and can often be provided as connecting rooms or cottages, for larger groups of friends or families. All accommodation features outside space, whether a private verandah or garden, and en-suite shower rooms. The rooms are simple and the en-suites are fairly basic, but perfectly pleasant, clean and comfortable and are finished with traditional furniture and features.

The communal spaces at the lodge are a great place to chat with fellow guests and the delightful family, particularly after an evening of exploring the surrounding countryside and villages. The fire pit just outside the main lodge is lit in the evenings and guests can enjoy a drink here before dinner is served in the dining room. Meals are served buffet style and are a delicious freshly cooked array of local and continental dishes. The chef is often on hand to chat through the traditional recipes he uses!

A wide variety of safaris and excursions can be arranged from the lodge. A favourite of ours is the river safari where you can enjoy sightings of crocodile, river dolphin and extensive birdlife. We would also highly recommend a visit to nearby Bateshwar Temple and Holipura Village.

NB the property is fed by rural electricity lines. Power cut-outs are quite common and wifi is only available in the main communal area and the signal can be erratic and slow. Torches/candles and heating/AC units are provided in the rooms.
