Ameya is a small luxurious property situated on Vembanad Lake, the largest lake of the backwaters in Kerala. It has the concept of a resort in mind but there are only three private cottages here and one suite meaning you are hardly sharing the facilities and space the property offers. This property is also entirely run on renewable solar – panels and so is a unique lakeside eco-retreat.

There are three cottages which are uniquely finished but have the same welcoming feel. The walls are painted with warm colours and they are decorated with Keralan paintings, fabrics and ornaments. A highlight for each cottage is the large verandas perched on stilts over a canal with thatched roofs and stunning views. One of the cottages has a small extra bedroom whilst one has a pull out sofa bed.

The other room is the Endless View Suite which is located in the main building. It is on the second floor and has a wide veranda with views straight out to the lake and gardens. You can even see these from the bed! All rooms have open-air bathrooms which are perfect in this tropical paradise.

Meals are discussed with you each day and are then prepared using fresh and local ingredients. These can be served on your private veranda or in the dining room of the main building. There is also a stunning pool with Jacuzzi seats, a pavilion for yoga and a library and lounge area.

This is a fantastic property to spend a few nights’ relaxation between a houseboat experience and the beach or as an alternative.
