Exploring Iceland

Iceland In A Nutshell

Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Welcome to Iceland

You will be transferred to Reykjavik from the airport where you can explore this fantastic city, taken in Hallgrimsborgir Church with its unrivalled views of Reykavik, one of the many museums and perhaps a visit to Sundhollin pool where the locals relax in hot tubs and saunas chatting the evening away. Alternatively, you could go hiking for a couple of hours up Mt Esja or explore a volcano.

Day 2 - The Golden Circle

Your guide will meet you early and whisk you off to The Golden Circle. This private tour will take in some of Iceland’s most famous landmarks including Thingvellir National Park (Europe’s oldest national legislative assembly was established here), Almannagja geological fault and past imposing rock formations. You will then move onto visit Strokkur the notorious geyser which erupts every 5-10 minutes. Finally, you visit the spectacular and vast Gullfoss waterfall. In the afternoon you can have some fun and explore the Langjokull glacier by snowmobile.  As soon as it gets dark, keep your eyes peeled for the Northern Lights! You could even go snorkelling at Silfra between tectonic plates. Spend 2 nights in this area

Day 3 - The Spectacular South Coast

The next morning it’s off for a glacier hike on Solheimajokull. Walking amongst and above this blue ice and unusual landscape with your guide is an unforgettable experience. In the afternoon you can walk along the beautiful Dyrholey promontory and go to Reynisfjara black sand beach famed for its basalt rock formations and one of the many Game of Thrones filming locations in Iceland. You will also stop off at the notorious waterfalls of Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss where you can walk behind the cascading water.

Day 4 - Reykjanes Peninsula or The Blue Lagoon

You can choose to spend your time unwinding in the restorative waters of The Blue Lagoon geothermal spa or walking along the Reykjanes Peninsula for that ‘Land’s End’ feeling and visiting Gunnuhver hot springs. Your guide will then transfer you to Keflavik ready for your flight home where you will say farewell to Iceland (until the next time, as you will have barely scratched the surface).
