Belmar Hotel is located in Costa Rica’s mountaintops of the lush cloud forest of Monteverde Reserve. The hotel opened in 1985 and was founded by Pedro Belmar and Vera Zeldon who had just returned from a decade in Austria where they go the inspiration for the property from the chalet guesthouses of Tirol. This can be seen clearly to this day.

Two thirds of the hotel’s 9-acre property are composed of cloud forest including a stream, waterfall and pond. The hotel has its own self-guided trail to explore. Around the two chalets that the hotel is made up of you will also find naturally landscaped gardens full of native plants, a vegetable and herb garden and a sun deck.

Rooms;
Peninsula Rooms: The Peninsula Rooms are located on the first floor of the hotel and have two queen sized beds and a wooden balcony with views of the Nicoya Peninsula and the gardens.
Peninsula Superior Rooms: Located on the top floor of the main building these rooms are ideal for couples, with private terraces with views of the Nicoya Peninsula, an open bathroom concept and king-sized beds in all.
Forest Rooms: Forest Rooms are located in the Chalet, steps away from the Hotel’s private cloud forest. Enjoy floor to ceiling windows, spacious bathrooms with a bathtub or shower with cloud forest views, hard wood finishing’s, and ample balconies with beautiful tiles and stunning views of the giant trees of the forest. Available with one king size bed.
Forest Superior Room: Just like our Forest Rooms, this room features floor to ceiling windows and a terrace with stunning views to the cloud forest. Additionally, the rooms have a glass enclosed Jacuzzi and an ample living area. Available with one king size bed or one king and one queen size bed: a great alternative for friends or family.
Belmar Rooms: Belmar Rooms are perfect for honeymooners or those looking for a relaxing and intimate experience in nature. These beautiful rooms offer 270-degree views of the Nicoya Peninsula and a modern, open-concept bathroom (separate toilet booth) finished with natural stone tiles, a double marble vanity, and a two-person whirlpool Jacuzzi looking out onto the Pacific Ocean or the Cloud Forest Preserve.
Canopy Room: Located in the penthouse of the Chalet, the Canopy Rooms are surrounded by all the wildlife of the Monteverde forests. Featuring floor-to-ceiling windows inches away from the trees and a terrace overlooking the mountains our Canopy Rooms will make you feel at one with nature. There is a private whirlpool jacuzzi on the terrace outside.

Suites:
Standard Suite: These have been newly added and are in a three storey building 100 metres from the main lobby. They are luxurious and spacious being 100 sq mts and featuring a king sized bed and lounge area. The floor to ceiling windows have the best views of the forest and Nicoya peninsula. This room also has a private bar, desk, spa style bathroom, forest view shower and small indoor garden. The terrace has a full sized day bed and whirlpool jacuzzi.

The main restaurant, Celajes, features farm to table dishes in a restaurant with balconies which look over the stunning views. The ingredients are only from the hotel’s organic garden or the Belmar family farm to create simple, balances Costa Rican cuisine. Additionally there is a Lounge Bar which specialises in craft beverages including cocktails made from the garden’s herbs and beers brewed on site.

Finally the hotel offers a juice bar, a spa and yoga studio.
