El Remanso Lodge is hidden in the tropical rainforest above a secluded wild beach in the Osa Peninsula, a 45-minute drive from Puerto Jimenez. It is within 185 of private reserve within pristine rainforest and is the perfect location for the adventurous traveller, couples, families, photographers and all nature lovers looking for a unique and boutique experience.
The lodge itself has been designed with strict ecological policies in mind and has been a pioneer in sustainable practices since its creation in 1001. It was one of the first in Costa Rica to provide its electricity exclusively by its own micro – hydro system. It also reduces its environmental impact by recycling our waste, running own compost systems and participate in local reforestation. Additionally, El Remanso has close ties with the community and provides work for over 30 local staff.
Just within the property itself you are likely to see monkeys leaping between the tree, exotic birds calling and the colourful frogs croaking through the night. Observant hikers can find sloths, kinkajous, eagles, toucans and parrots. There have been recent sightings of ocelots, pumas and several species of rare endemic birds. Night sounds of frogs and owls will lull you into a deep sleep and you will wake to the sounds of howler monkeys and parrots. It really is a nature lovers paradise.
