A Costa Rican Adventure takes in highlights of this beautiful country but in an active, exhilarating and adrenaline seeking way! You start by rafting to your hotel deep in the jungle on  the Pacuare River, one of the best for white-water rafting on the world. From here you canopy walk and hike through national parks, zip-line and Tarzan swing over canyons and surf on the famous Costa Rican waves. Your final stop is in the Osa Peninsula, one of the most bio-diverse places on the planet, perfect for wildlife spotting and relaxing! This is an itinerary for everyone but especially those looking for adventure nestled within luxury.

Your Itinerary

DAY 1: - Welcome to Costa Rica

Today you will arrive at Juan Sanramaría International Airport where you will be met by a representative who will greet you and provide you with any documentation you might need for your trip. They will transfer you to your hotel in San José for the night. This is just stop for the night before you start your adventure. We recommend Grano de Oro as it is one of the more boutique options, close to the airport and a relaxing property with a good restaurant for your first night in the country.

DAY 2: - White Water Rafting to your property in the jungle

This morning you will be picked and driven to the Pacuare River for a day of adventure and adrenaline. On arrival to the river you will meet your guides to start this incredible rafting journey. In the water you will ride the waves passing through scenic canyons and crystal-clear waterfalls. On arrival at Pacuare Lodge you will find a unique jungle oasis in a remarkable setting. Enjoy a hearty lunch before spending the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 3: - At leisure in Pacuare Lodge

Day at leisure to enjoy the scenic beauty of the natural surrounds of the Pacuare River and the optional activities offered at the lodge. Thanks to its proximity to the Caribbean lowlands and the high annual rainfall, this area offers very complex life systems and exotics, formed by the extraordinary abundance of the rainforests and its exuberant vegetation, which provides protection for jaguars, ocelots, monkeys, sloths and numerous species of birds and plants.

Day 4: - Transfer to Arenal Volcano

Enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast listening to the beautiful songs of the many birds and sounds of the river rushing by before you head back on the rafts again exploring more side streams and pools. Enjoy lunch by the river before being met by your transfer to take you to the striking Arenal Volcano in the northern lowlands. If the skies are clear you will be greeted by the impressive volcano with its almost perfect volcanic cone. Rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 5: - Canopy Tour & Hiking Through Arenal National Park

After breakfast you will be picked up and transferred to the start of your canopy tour designed to provide the visitor greater contact with nature. It consists of 15 cables and 18 platforms in total. This afternoon visit the Arenal Volcano National Park. You begin with a short boat ride from the Arenal Lake Dam to the start of the hike which takes you through amazing views of the lake and lookouts for birdwatching and nature photography. Evening at leisure to enjoy one of the hotels restaurants.

Day 6: - Head to the thermal waters at Rio Perdido

From Arenal you continue your journey to Bagaces, home to the unique property of Rio Perdido. You are quite off the beaten track here requiring an ‘off road’ journey to get here. Not only are you greeted with stunning views over the dwark forest, but you can enjoy zip-lining, mountain biking and canyoning. To relax between all this adventure, enjoy the natural geothermal heated waters in the river flowing near to the hotel and in the property’s numerous pools.

Day 7: - Canyoning, Zip Lining and River Tubing

This morning head out to enjoy the hotels very own canyoning experience. The circuit consists of zip-lines, canyoning cables, a pendulum cable, tarzan swing, bridges and via ferratas. Relax and have lunch in the beautiful open-air restaurant before heading out to the river for a tubing experience. Take in the beautiful scenery as you flow down the gentle rapids! We recommend ending the day with time in the hot spring pools!

Day 8: - To the white Sand Beaches and clear waters of Manuel Antonio

Today requires a bit of travelling as you leave the north of the country and head to the Central Pacific Coast. First you will transfer to San Jose for a domestic flight to the area of Manuel Antonio. Spend the next two nights at your beachside hotel enjoying the sunshine and beautiful views. Rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 9: - Surfing the waves of Costa Rica

You will be picked up this morning to transfer a short distance to the beach which will serve as your surf classroom. Spend a short team on the sand with your instructor for your introduction for surfing before heading in to the water. Once in the water the instructor will be with you the whole time to help you. Fruit and juices will be provided. Please note these surf lessons can be adapted for different levels.

Day 10: - To the wildlife haven of the Osa Peninsula

Continue further south today into the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica. This part of the country is the most bio-diverse and least discovered and is a true paradise for wildlife. You will head to Puerto Jimenez where the staff of your hotel El Remanso will greet you and take you to this stunning property. Even on the drive itself you will see so many different animals. Spend the next few days here taking in the views over the ocean, swimming in the pool and exploring trails with guides wildlife spotting!

Day 11-13: - Enjoying the activities in Corcovado National Park

These days are at your leisure to explore the area and its wonderful natural treasures, relax at your room with the sounds of the Mother Nature or take an optional tour (extra cost). Some activities you could enjoy in the area are waterfall rappelling, guided hikes, birdwatching, horseback riding, dolphin watching, surfing, kayaking, tree climbing and yoga classes. Definitely, you will love to combine this paradise with the adrenaline of these tours.

Day 14: - Flight back to San Jose for your International Flight Home

Today it is your final day in Costa Rica. Have a relaxing breakfast overlooking the Pacific Ocean before transferring to Pueto Jimenez airstrip for your short flight to San Jose and your international flight home.
