Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Bienvenidos a Santiago! Afternoon bike tour of the city.

Today you will arrive in Santiago. A guide will be waiting for you at the airport and you will be taken by private car to your hotel. You will have some time to relax. In the afternoon, a private transfer will pick you up from the Hotel to take you to the meeting point. Once there, you will meet your guide and all equipment will be given to you. You will discover the places, people and attractions that define the Centre of Santiago as we take you through the painful recent political history that surrounds General Pinochet’s Military Coup in 1973. You will visit sites that are very important to Chileans, including a spectacular Cultural Centre. This tour will give you new knowledge and unforgettable memories of Santiago in a fun way as you travel in a group by bike. At the end, a private transfer will pick you up from the meeting point to take you to your hotel.

Day 2 - Full day rafting tour at Cascada de las Animas (shared)

Take part in our Rafting excursion and enjoy an exciting and entertaining day outdoors in the Cajon del Maipo.

A day full of adrenaline and entertainment in the Cajon del Maipo!

Our Rafting excursion is our most popular tour. Cascada de las Animas operates the longest rafting section of the Maipo River and no other operator can offer you more! Enjoy a full day of adventure, including a delicious lunch in our restaurant and the use of our pool. The best panorama!

The program includes: Rafting, waterfall hike, Pool (summer season) / Hot tub or Jacuzzi (winter season) and lunch. Private return transfer from the hotel are included.

Day 3 - Full day tour to Viña del Mar and Valparaiso with Graffiti experience (semi-private)

Viña del Mar and Valparaíso are part of the destinations in Chile that cannot be missed. Known as “Garden City”, for being originally surrounded by large green areas and preserving beautiful and extensive gardens in its urban area, Viña del Mar is undoubtedly one of Chile’s must-see destinations, with the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop. It highlights the beauty of its architecture, its imposing palaces and its famous Flower Clock, photographed by hundreds of visitors from all over the world. We will travel along the coastal edge, where you can see stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, until you reach Valparaíso, the country’s main port. Its colorful beauty and its unique location between hills, like a true natural amphitheatre facing the sea, earned it the declaration of World Heritage by Unesco. We will visit Cerro Alegre, where you will appreciate the magic of this city, with its picturesque elevators, multicolored neighborhoods and unforgettable sea views.

Valparaíso is known for its murals that make the city beautiful. Today you will have the opportunity to know the street art of an unconventional way, where you can get your hands dirty (literally) since you can paint together with a graffiti artist on the city walls!

Day 4 - Fly to the Lake District and kayak excursion at La Poza

This morning you will be driven by private car to Santiago airport where you will catch a domestic flight (included) to Puerto Montt in the Lake region. A guide will be waiting for you and will then take you by private car to your hotel in Puerto Varas.

In the afternoon, you will be picked up from your hotel to go on a shared kayak excursion.

If what you want is to relax and have a good quiet and contemplative time, you cannot miss the opportunity to sail in Laguna La Poza. You will be able to enjoy the nature of the Los Lagos Region, meet native trees like Coigüe and Notro and observe birds like Garza Cuca and Martín Pescador. 

 

The activity begins by heading towards Ensenada, 13 km from the city of Puerto Varas. The navigation is approximately 2 hours, passing through the small Loreley Island to the great Pozon with a view of the Calbuco Volcano. If the weather is with us, we have the option of crossing Lake Llanquihue to paddle in front of the Osorno Volcano. After the navigation, we close the activity with a delicious snack and then return to Puerto Varas.

Day 5 - Full day Petrohué and Osorno volcano tour (shared)

This adventure will take you to see this active volcano, renowned for its perfect formation, and the famous Petrohué Waterfalls, both important landmarks in Southern Chile. A lake originating from a glacier and an active volcano, famous for its perfectly shaped crater, are two of the attractions you can see with this package. 

The tour starts on the southern shores of the Llanquihue Lake, where you will learn about the German settlers and agriculture in the zone. Once in the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, you will be able to enjoy the imposing Petrohué Waterfalls, which stun visitors with their turquoise waters. From there, we will go on to the origin of the Petrohué River, Todos los Santos Lake, where we will visit some of its sleepy beaches. By then, we will be at the foot of the Osorno Volcano to enjoy a lunch in the village of Ensenada, before continuing up to the ski resort on the volcano. 

En route, you will be stunned by the panoramic views of the Petrohué River valley and the beautiful Llanquihue Lake.

Day 6 - Full day Ancud, Pinguineras y Puerto Elvira (semi-private)

Pick up early at the morning at your hotel in Puerto Varas. We drive to Chiloé Archipelago including a 30 minutes ferry crossing, where we may see dolphins and sea lions. Arriving Chiloé Big Island we drive to the the West Pacific Coast to Puñihuil area. Once there, we will get the boat trip to reach the two small islands, where Humboldt and Magellan penguins breed together during summer time. 

After boat trip we go for a short walk on the beautiful white sanded beach and maybe get in contact with some local fishermen collecting their prey of crabs. With zodiacs we will get close to these islands to observe the penguins. Furthermore we may be able to watch sea lions, pelicans, cormorants and other wild animals and birds. Around midday we will drive back to Puerto Elvira, in our way back we will stop in differents spot to take pictures and enjoy the beatiful landscapes. Afterwards we will continue to Puerto Elvira where we will have the lunch at countryside in a local farm, visiting some locals, we will have time for an kayak trip by the shore, walk trought the native forest and visit a “Charcuterie” where we can see and learn about the production process of this delicatesen. In the afternoon return to your hotel.

Day 7 - Fly to Punta Arenas

This morning you will be driven by private car to Puerto Montt airport where you will catch a domestic flight (included) to Punta Arenas in the Southern Patagonia. A guide will be waiting for you and will then take you by private car to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure for you to relax and recharge your batteries before embarking on the next family adventures!

Day 8 - Full day Tierra del Fuego navigation (shared)

Tour pick up start time between 07:00 – 07:30 am where we begin to look for the passengers, at 08:00 am we go to the Tres Puentes terminal to take the ferry and cross the Strait of Magellan , Navigation lasts 2 hours, arriving around 11:30 am at Bahía Chilota, the place where it disembarks, and 20 minutes away is located one of the southernmost cities in Patagonia, called Porvenir, where the Fernando Museum is visited. Cordero, where he tells the story of the Indians who lived in it and the Pioneers who invested in that place and made that rich town in its time with the gold rush. We continue our way to visit the Selknam Square, then we will make a stop for lunch and rest in a small and inexpensive restaurant where the cost is around $ 6,000 per person. We continue our trip to the Pingüino Rey Park, a colony that is located in Bahía Inutil, where you can appreciate them and enjoy their beauty, we continue on our way to Cerro Sombrero, which is a town that has the necessary services and was created for them to live the officials of the National Petroleum Company when this was at its peak, we will finally make the crossing through Primera narrowness doing a 20-minute navigation and then make the last stop at the San Gregorio ranch, arriving in Punta Arenas around 21 : 00 hrs.

Important: This tour is not available on Mondays and you will have to pay for your lunch and entrance fees so bring cash with you. (Around 20.000 chilean pesos per person).

Day 9 - Bus to Puerto Natales

This morning a private car with a guide will drive the whole family to the bus station where you will catch a coach to Puerto Natales, the gateway town to Torres del Paine. The ride will be around 3 hours so sit back, relax and enjoy the stunning views of the Patagonian steppes. Once arrived at the bus station in Puerto Natales a private car will drive you to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day.

Day 10 - Full day navigation of Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers (shared)

We will begin our expedition in Puerto Natales, where we will check-in to set sail on the catamaran. Beginning our navigation through the Señoret Canal, we will pass in front of the Bories Refrigerating National Historical Monument, a construction from 1913, which stands out for its post-Victorian English-style industrial architecture. We will continue the trip until we reach Guanaco Island, where we will see the beautiful Magellanic dolphins, also known as dolphins, a wonder that cannot be missed.

Navigation will continue until we find our main destination, Monte Balmaceda, from where we can see the spectacular Balmaceda Glacier. We will disembark in Puerto Toro, where together with our guide, we will take a 1 km walk along the shore of Laguna Témpanos, through a path of not much difficulty. After that break, we will continue towards the Serrano Glacier, through a native forest of coigües, ñirres and plum trees, enjoying the imposing vegetation and the contrast between the sky and the sea ice. Upon arrival at the Serrano Glacier, we will enjoy a whiskey with ancient ice, accompanied by a spectacular panoramic view of the Serrano Glacier.

Day 11 - Full day tour to Torres del Paine and Milodón cave (shared)

Departure from the Hotel in Puerto Natales. We will start our tour visiting the Milodon Cave Natural monument about 30 minutes away from the town. This cave was discovered by a German Captain in 1895.He found a skin piece of a prehistoric animal called “Milodon” of 10000 years old. We will have a 30-minute walk to visit the Cave. Next, we drive 45 minutes to our next stop, the Village of Cerro Castillo, heart of the sheep Farming Business in the Area. Here we can make a break of 20 minutes before we continue to travel along big glacier valleys now occupied by sheep farms. About 30 minutes after we leave Cerro Castillo, we will spot the mountains of the Paine Massif (if the weather is favorable) including the famous Torres del Paine and the spectacular Cuernos del Paine. 

There are several viewpoints from where you are able to observe this amazing mountain formation. Also, you can see lakes Sarmiento and Amarga before reaching the park’s entrance. This area is also the best place to observe the wild life of the park such as guanacos, ñandues, condors, etc. in big numbers and close to the road. We continue to the central area of the park to observe lakes like Nördenskjold and Pehoe which have a characteristic color.

Also, the waterfall Salto Grande is another of the main highlights in this side of the park. We stop in a restaurant to have lunch and then we continue to the west side, the area of Lake Grey. We hike for about 1 hour to reach the lake shore in which we see many icebergs that come from the Grey Glacier, evidence of the last Ice Age here in Patagonia. After visiting this area we’llstart to drive back to the town and return to your hotel.

Day 12 - Fly to Santiago

A private car will take you to Puerto Natales bus station where you will board the bus to Punta Arenas airport. Here you will take a flight back to Santiago where you will spend your last night at the airport hotel.

Day 13 - Departure

Your Chile family adventure has come to an end. You are leaving with so many wonderful memories that will stay with you forever and so much to talk about on your long flight back to the UK!

The capital of Chile is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city worth spending a few nights in. My favourite places are Lastarria and Bellavista neighbourhood, where you can find plenty of bars, restaurants and boutique shops to keep you entertained, and still close enough to the city's highlights.
