The Explora brand is all about the in depth experiences to be lived in the the destination, however, this hotel does not fall short on also offering some of the Atacama’s most luxurious facilities.
Huge sand dunes, salt pans, impressive volcanoes and cloudless skies inspired the design of each of the Explora explorations. Explora offers four pools, sauna steam baths and outdoor hot tubs. You will also find a massage centre located near the hotel, in a restored Colonial adobe-straw building. Turi Puri, which in Kunza, the language of the area’s early inhabitants, means “House of Water,” will invite you to discover a new level of inner peace, outer harmony, and revitalized energy.
There is a BBQ area that includes a renovated, old traditional adobe house and its patio. Here is where, on special occasions, guests are invited to experience a Chilean bbq accompanied by Andean music and wine, Chilean of course! The Explorer’s Bar is the meeting place of our guides for planning explorations. Stocked with liquor and Chilean wines, the bar is frequently the meeting point of returning groups at nightfall.
You will find a store carrying all the items necessary for taking part in the explorations, along with local artisanal goods and books of the area. And because San Pedro de Atacama boasts some of the world’s clearest skies and is, therefore, one of the best places to practice astronomy, Explora inaugurated in 2008 an observatory that has quickly become one of Chile’s best private ones! The hotel offers nightly viewings but these are weather dependent.
