Exploring Cape Town

Franschhoek Winelands

Most people choose to stay close to the beach or in Cape Town itself except our ‘swallows’, people that flee winter for typically most of January and all of February. Franschhoek is the most popular destination for our swallows. It’s a small charming historical town set at the end of a valley almost surrounded by mountains. This little town was originally the French settlement and is still known today as the French Quarter. It is reputed to be the best town in the southern hemisphere to dine out in because there are more of the top 10 restaurants in South Africa in this little town than any other.

Stellenbosch is the better known location of the Winelands to Franschhoek. It is also an historical town but much larger even boasting it’s own university. Most customers choose smaller Franschhoek as their base and maybe visit Stellenbosch which is only a 40 minute drive away.

Whilst Franschhoek is only 70 minutes drive from Cape Town, a popular combination is to spend a couple of nights here. We strongly recommend a night or two in the Winelands as it is a very restful experience and a wonderful setting! Staying 2/3 nights we suggest a boutique hotel, there are plenty to choose from as featured on our Winelands page but for a longer stay a villa/apartment maybe more suitable depending on your requirements.

Below is a selection of properties we have more! We also hold additional pictures of many of the properties. Please don’t hesitate to contact us email / phone +44 (0)20 7112 0019 to see more pictures and for more accommodation suggestions.
