Launched in 2014, the Mekong Aqua offers unrivalled luxury on the Mekong River. Featuring just 20 spacious, design suites, the stylishly designed boat has an intimate feel despite its size. It is incredibly spacious and boasts a plug pool, spa and fitness centre, library, screening room and observation deck.

The luxury boat travels between Saigon in Vietnam and Siem Reap in Cambodia, which takes seven nights. However it also stops in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, enabling people to join for just four or three nights as they travel between Phnom Penh and Saigon or Siem Reap.

The Aqua Mekong River Cruise takes you through chic modern cities, past small villages and into areas where nature is in full bloom. Some of the highlights of the cruise include visiting remote fishing villages in Cambodia, passing floating houses and markets, visiting family homes and local markets and cycling through charming landscapes. You will have the opportunity to board smaller sampan-style boats which will take you into flooded forests and more off the beaten track.

After the excursions each day, guests are able to return to an elegant river facing suite on the boat, which are located on the first and second decks. Floor to ceiling windows allow guests to gaze upon the Mekong from the pillow and a Mekong River facing day bed allows further river gazing opportunities. Half of the cabins have private balconies with day beds and tables, while the others have the day beds inside their suites.

The sleek bathrooms also boast Mekong River facing windows, plus dual sinks, a large walk in shower with a rainforest shower head, hairdryer and natural bath amenities. Four sets of interconnecting suites, with two sets on each deck, offer convenience for families. Or for the ultimate luxury, passengers may book these interconnecting accommodations, with one suite configured as a private living room, the other as a bedroom, and separate baths.

The ship has a smart sun lit dining room, which has polished wooden floors, natural fabrics and brought to life by bouquets of fresh tropical flowers. The boat serves a Mekong influenced cuisine by Michelin starred Executive Chef David Thompson of Bangkok’s Nam restaurant. Dinner is served on fine china while their sommelier selects wines in crystal glassware. All meals are included while onboard as well as beverages (non-alcoholic, selected wines and beer).

Upstairs, the Observation Deck has a section of cushioned loungers facing the river and woven cane planters chairs in an air conditioned indoor lounge. But what really sets this ship’s observation deck apart from others is the inviting plug pool at the back of the boat where you can take a refreshing tip after a humid day exploring the wonders of the Mekong.

The price is based on a 7-night cruise. The 3-night cruise starts from about £2,340 for two people.
