This hiking trip will take you to Mount Roraima, an incredible place with unbelievable table mountains and unforgettable sounds of nature, being surrounded by deep silence and a mysterious fog. The more you hike the more you realize that there is so much to discover. This is a wild place, where the time stopped. A mountain which looks alive, where slumbering sensations raise from your souls, showing how strong and fragile we are. The reflections come naturally, even for the more experienced traveler, especially if one stays more at the top. This hiking trail is considered moderate. It is done on a rough irregular surface with elevations below 3000 meters, climate adaptation or climbing techniques not being necessary.
Day 1 - Boa Vista (Brazil) / Santa Elena de Uairén (Venezuela)
Today start with the briefing at 08:30 at the hotel. Around midday you will depart from Boa Vista to Santa Elena de Uairén (220km), arriving estimately around 18:00. Spend the evening at leisure in Santa Elena de Uairén. Dinner is included.Accommodation
Day 2 - Santa Elena de Uairén / Paraitepuy / Kukenan River Camp
After breakfast, depart to Paraitepuy (100 km). We will distribute the luggage to start the trekking. We will walk to the camp at Kukenan river, a 16 km route (approx.5 hrs). There we will set up the camp, take photos, rest, and reflect on the next day’ trekking. Dinner is included.
Day 3 - Kukenan River / Base of Mount Roraima
After breakfast you will depart toward the mountain`s base. Hiking – 7 km (approx. 4-5 hours). Although the route is shorter comparing with the first day, the effort will be bigger because you will be going uphill. Arriving around 14:00, you will set up the camp and have lunch. Relax, take a bath and reflect about the next day’s plan. Dinner is included.
Day 4 - Base of Roraima Mount / Top 2734m
After breakfast you will depart around 08:00 to the top (4 – 5 hours). This will be one of the most beautiful moments of the trek. It goes through several streams and under a waterfall. When you reach the camp, spend the afternoon relaxing and getting to know the surroundings. First night on top. Temperature: 10°C during the day and 5°C at night, maybe 0°C if it rains.
Day 5 - Valley of Crystals / Triple Point / El Foso
After breakfast you will depart for the Valley of Crystals, Triple Point and El Foso. You will stop on the way to take photos and relax. You will arrival at the original camp in the late afternoon. On this day no need to carry all the equipment, only the essentials to use during the trek. Dinner and overnight. Second night on top.
Day 6 - Top / Base / Tek River Camp
Today start the to return down, after breakfast. Approximately 4 hours to the base, stopping for rest and food, then following the way until Tek River Camp, estimated arrival time 4 pm (14 km). After all the walking, this will be the more enjoyable camp, because the hassle with cold have ended, and the starry sky will provide a wonderful contemplation. Time to rest, bath and take more photos. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7 - Tek River Camp / Paraitepuy / Santa Elena do Uairén / Boa Vista
After breakfast you will start walking towards the village, approximately 15 km (4 hours). Return to Santa Elena de Uairén (100 km), and then to Boa vista (220 km). You will arrival at approx. 20:00. You can choose to extend the trip to Angel Falls, Gran Sabana, El Pauli, Chirikayen tepuy, Tepequem, Community Bananal, etc.
