The Makgadikgadi Pan is one of the largest salt pans in the world. It is what remains of what was once Lake Makgadikgadi. A massive super lake that dried up a few thousand years ago! This unique environment offers breathtaking views from the campsite. The dry region attracts several animal species during the wet months. Including wildebeest, zebra and lion, as well as a large variety of water and land bird species. Your days here will be spent enjoying game drives and guided nature walks. The next part of your Botswana Highlights holiday takes you to yet another of Botswana’s most sought-after luxury accommodations. Situated in the heart of the Okavango Delta. The Delta is one of the seven natural wonders of Africa! Receiving approximately 11 cubic kilometres of water per year from the annual floods. During the dry winter months, the delta is at its fullest and attracts a large variety of wildlife. In fact, it is known to be one of the areas with the highest concentrations of wildlife during this time. Above all elephant, buffalo, hippo, rhino and a wide variety of buck. As well as predators including lion, cheetah, leopard and the Nile crocodile and a large variety of birdlife.

The final leg of your Botswana Highlights holiday takes you to an intimate and luxurious tented camp. The camp is situated on the private Selinda Reserve overlooking the crystal waters of Zibadianja Lagoon. Centred around the Selinda spillway which links the Okavango Delta with the famous Linyanti Swamps. It offers excellent game and bird viewing, but is situated in a remote location. However, it is away from the busier tourist areas. The campsite offers some spectacular views of the surrounding plains, as well as passing wildlife.

Your Itinerary

Days 1-3 - Jack's Camp

Arrival at Maun Airport in Botswana, where a local representative will meet you and assist with your light aircraft transfer to Jack’s Camp. The next 3 nights will be spent staying in this luxury tented lodge – spend your mornings on guided game drives and bush walks which focus on the species common to this desert area – such as the brown hyena, bat-eared fox and the black-maned Kalahari lion. Enjoy a horseback safari ride, or quad-bike ride across the pans during the dry season, or simply sit back, relax and enjoy a spa treatment for a few hours.

Days 4-6 - Duba Plains

Today sees you taking an 80-minute light aircraft flight to the Duba Plains in the heart of the Okavango Delta. This luxury tented lodge is located in a unique area and was built with comfort and convenience in mind. Each tent has its own private veranda, indoor and outdoor shower and luxurious bath, as well as a private plunge pool. Make use of your own private game vehicle and guide, as well as your personal butler and chef to get the maximum experience out of this stunning luxury lodge.

Days 7-9 - Zarafa Camp

Catch a quick 25-minute light aircraft flight to Zarafa Camp, which overlooks the savannas and floodplains of Zibadianja Lagoon’s southern shores.  This luxury camp has some of the most spectacular views in the region, and offers regular wildlife sightings right from the campsite! Spend your days watching the large pods of hippo playing in the lagoon, and perhaps witness the amazing hunting skills of the “surfing lions” who prey on these large animals.

Day 10 - Return to Maun

Today is the final day of your Botswana Highlights holiday. Wake up early and enjoy a warm drink and light snack before heading off on a final early morning game drive. Arrive back at the campsite and enjoy an expertly-prepared and delicious breakfast, before catching a final 50-minute light aircraft flight back to Maun Airport. From Maun Airport you will catch an international flight back home.
