So where’s hot in April and October?
Borneo – It’s a perfect time to hike Mount Kinabalu, as there’s more chance of clear weather at the summer. October is somewhat of a sweet spot, as its post-monsoon, but pre-summer crowds – so this is a time we thoroughly recommend.
Greece – crystal clear water, gorgeous springtime, a sense of anticipation in the air – what else could you want from a trip to the Med this time of year? Go sailing before the crowds, and enjoy quiet anchorages, beautiful weather – and perhaps Greek Easter!
Malaysia – in April you can find perfect beach weather on both sides of the peninsula, making this a great time to visit if you want to see more of what’s on offer. Enjoy rainforests, UNESCO heritage towns, islands, beaches and delicious food in Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
Vietnam – like much of Asia at this time of year, Vietnam is offering perfect weather, gorgeous beaches, and phenomenally expansive countryside alongside exciting cities. Pair with Cambodia for an epic twin centre trip, or traverse the length of this culturally rich nation.
Philippines – in April this country is experiencing hot, sunny & dry weather, making it perfect for snorkelling, hiking, watching whale sharks ethically in Donsol (NB, we do not work with any suppliers or areas that feed or net these beautiful fish.) In the north of the country, you can visit ancient rice terraces and caves.
Sri Lanka – April is a gorgeously transitory season, with the sunshine moving from the south and west beaches to the more untouched east coast. This move brings with it a sense of renewal. Enjoy beaches, safari and time in the hill country with amazing scenery and wildlife. It’s a year round destination, really.
Maldives – April brings the start of surf season! A perfect time for watersports fans – with great fun breaks, but plenty to do on the islands if not everyone’s a surf lover. White sand, blue water, colourful reefs – it’s the Maldives at their finest.
Patagonia – at this time of year, it’s gorgeously autumnal. Peak season is over meaning there’s fewer people and cheaper prices throughout the region. Landscapes are bathed in warm hues, and it’s also a bit less windy!
Thailand – April in Thailand is hot, and it’s also Songkran, the famous water festival! It’s a fun, lively celebration where locals splash water in the streets, and you can join in the excitement. Whether you’re exploring the jungle, soaking in history, or chilling on the beach, April is a great time to visit all parts of the country.
Croatia – April is perfect for exploring the popular sights of Dubrovnik Old Town and Dioclietian’s Palace before the summer crowds arrive. Hike in stunning national parks, cycle, and climb impressive forts before the summer heat. In terms of where’s hot in April and October, Croatia ticks all the boxes.
Slovenia -in April, wildflowers cover the Julian Alps, vineyards start coming to life, and it’s an excellent time for outdoor festivals and markets. It’s perfect for low-elevation hiking, cycling, and exploring caves like Škocjan and Postojna. The cooler weather is perfect for trekking in Triglav National Park, especially pretty in the golden autumn foliage that makes Slovenia even more magical.
Egypt – a great time to visit this historic country, with warm daily temperatures, sunny weather and perfect sightseeing – both above and below the water!

Cambodia – unlike quite a lot of Asian destinations, Cambodia is perfect in October, with lush jungle, flooded seasonal lakes and full waterfalls. Expect daily temperatures of 28 degrees and only increasing as it gets closer to the end of year high season.
Borneo – October sees fewer crowds, but it’s still pre-monsoon, so it’s another great time to visit. The wildlife spotting at this time of year is particularly good, as the animals haven’t gone deeper into the rainforests yet – which they do during the monsoon.
Bhutan – it’s peak season! Expect mild weather, clear skies, lots of festivals and dry mountain trails – and at the end of October, black-necked cranes arrive in the Phobjikha valley. The rains are long gone, so this is the perfect time to travel here.
Brazil – October brings great weather all around, there are fewer visitors, cheaper prices and it’s also a great time to end your holiday on a beach in Bahia. Brazil is huge, so there’s lots to do – from visiting the wetlands of the Pantanal, to sunny days in Rio or the Green Coast and Buzios in spring.
Egypt – in October Egypt sees daily comfortable temps of between 25–30°C, not too hot, not too cold, and fewer tourists. It’s the sweet spot for sightseeing! Take a cruise down the nile or a historic tour through the sites – and don’t forget to take in the brand new Grand Egyptian Museum.
Japan – late in October is the best time to visit this month, with the country experiencing mild temperatures, clear skies, and autumn foliage in full bloom – it’s a stunning backdrop for sightseeing, and frankly we think it’s the country at the peak of its beauty.
Croatia – this month is a delightful time for swimming, water sports, sailing, and island hopping, as the sea has warmed up all summer and outdoor swimming pools remain open. In October, the Harvest festivals begin in rural areas, and places like Istria are perfect for lovers of food and wine.
Slovenia – Slovenia’s wine harvest season is in full swing in October; visit Goriška Brda, or Vipava Valley, to taste fresh wines and savour delicious local food.
