Luxury experiences in Asia

By Val Garibotti on 7th November, 2024

What does luxury mean to you?

To us, luxury is knowing that the endless admin you plough through before travelling, the hours spent on a plane, the packing chaos, is going to be 100% worth it.

It’s trusting an expert to plan you the perfect trip with gorgeous hotels, rather than spending hours on Google trying to figure out whether pics have been photoshopped.

Luxury is having someone who cares about your holiday as much as you do planning it for you, so that all you have to do is get excited. Zero planning fatigue or FOMO, thanks.

At least, that’s what luxury means to the team at Fleewinter.

VIETNAM

The classic ‘Vietnam top to tail’ can be experienced most of the year, by families and couples alike, with small tweaks to make the most of the weather patterns and cater for the groups preferences.
But give us 3 weeks (or more) for the ultimate private Grand Tour of Vietnam, and really get under the skin of the country, skipping nothing. Hike in the paddy fields, taste  the outstanding streetfood in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, shop in Hoi An, unwind on a sandy island beach – and everything in between.
This tour is ideal December to April and best suited to adults as there are some extra internal flights – but all worth it in our humble opinion!

CAMBODIA

Cambodia is so much more than the famed temples in Siem Reap, and our From Temples & Jungles to Paradise itinerary is the perfect two week loop. You can get a little off the beaten track, and soak up more of what the country offers.

Experience the river life, the rural countryside around Battambang, the striking jungle and Cardamom mountains, before escaping to a tropical island. We’ve included a wonderful homestay and some rustic, authentic accommodation stops – but step ups in luxury are available too if preferred.

SRI LANKA

Sri Lanka is a dream to explore, with historical and natural highlights across the island. While the south coast has the most famous beaches with incredible swimming, water sports and whale watching – the east coast is equally beautiful and has the added bonus of being less developed. Therefore our Classic Summer Loop feels like a well kept secret.

You can still experience all the key highlights you expect from Sri Lanka, including a  thrilling safari, hiking in the tea fields, and exploring the unique Cultural Triangle –  plus a few days unwinding in a resort right on the wide, sandy beaches near Trincomalee. This itinerary is simply perfect in the summer months (May to August) and the hotels included are ideally suited to families in the school summer holidays –  but easily adapted for couples too.

As an added bonus, the whales follow the sun to the east coast in the summer months too!

MALDIVES

These days, the Maldives seems to offer something for everyone – from cosy resorts with secluded, romantic water villas and opulent dining that scream ‘honeymoon’ to sprawling islands with multi-bedroom beach villas ideal for a family, and a kids club to rival a theme park.

But often overlooked is the  additional value a Maldives holiday can offer when you’re looking for more than a fly-and-flop. Head to the Raa atoll for a world famous wellness retreat at Joali Being. Consider a productive week at Oblu Helengeli getting the whole family PADI scuba diving certified. Or in the summer months try your hand at reef surfing at Ayada in the pristine and remote Gaafu Atoll.

SINGAPORE

The most expensive nation in South East Asia, Singapore is full of incredible experiences and surprisingly good value if you know how to find it. The trick is to combine local insight with a variety of transportation, guides who know the nation inside-out, and a hotel that gives you just what you need for a city break without all the extras.

Far from the average stopover, this 6 day dive into Singapore does all of that, packing high value into a reasonable cost. With a combination of public transport, walking tours, and air conditioned drives through an equatorial nation, you’ll feel as though your Singaporean friend is showing you their hometown. Sit down to meals in hawker centres, take in skyline views from a residential rooftop, sail through islands at sunset, tick off the Merlion, Marina Bay Sands, futuristic supertrees, cultural enclaves, National Orchid Garden, and more knowing that you’ve gotten the most out of your time.

LAOS

Laos is a bit different to its neighboring nations, filled with forest and unspoiled landscapes, it’s a nature-lover’s delight. Friendly people, charming hotels, and the rich culture of Luang Prabang make it a joy for those seeking an all-around holiday with a mix of adventure and ease.

To truly get under the skin of Laos, we’ve created a two-week holiday filled with personalised experiences such as a tour of Luang Prabang with a former UNESCO cultural advisor, a gourmet breakfast beside a waterfall before the crowds arrive, exclusive cookery class in the home of a great cook, sunrise above ancient ruins without a soul in sight, and a vintage jeep tour with a coffee farmer extraordinaire. Beautiful boutique hotels, scenic river rides, and stunning train journeys round out this special trip through Laos.

To make it even more special, we can add experiences such as a private baci blessing, time with historians, hikes to remote villages, and so much more. Your time in Laos can be unlike anywhere you’ve ever been, packed with inside knowledge and local experiences with a seamless blend of comfort, luxury, and exploration.

BORNEO

If it’s wildlife you’re keen to see, then Sabah is the place to go. And if you want to experience it in leisurely comfort without a rush, our new Luxury Borneo Holiday is the experience you’re seeking.

We’ve put together a private mangrove cruise outside Kota Kinabalu, time on the Kinabatangan River in a delightful lodge where you’ll stay in your own villa and head out for wildlife safaris, three luxurious nights in the ancient rainforest of Danum Valley with time for walks, night drives, waterfall dips, river tubing, the canopy walkway, and the sounds of the jungle symphony, and wrapped it all up with four nights on exclusive Pulau Tiga.

Borneo Eagle Resort is one of the hidden gems of the South China Sea where every stay includes full board, a pre-dinner cocktail, your own villa, jungle walks, kayaking, snorkelling, and exceptional service. There’s no better place to end a luxurious Borneo holiday.

Keep an eye on this itinerary as we’ll soon unveil a Kinabatangan River option unlike any other – a private boat with state rooms for up to 8 people, allowing you to look for orangutans, pygmy elephants, flying squirrels, and even tarsiers and clouded leopards in complete privacy and comfort.
