The iconic Clare Hotel, which was originally a pub and the Carlton United Breweries buildings, have been sensitively restored to The Old Clare Hotel, a unique and playful boutique hotel with an industrial feel. The 62 rooms offer a mix of handcrafted items with an authentic, old-world feel.

With its rich history and architecture, Chippendale has become the home of choice for dozens of art galleries, production houses, graphic and fashion design studios, plus new restaurants, cafés and bars. Central Station is 600 metres away from the hotel.

The Rooms
The suites come with plummy heritage features, most notably the brewery HQ’s original boardroom, ceilings and timber panelling. Each air-conditioned room is fitted with a flat-screen, an electric kettle and a private bathroom with a hairdryer.

The entry-level room is called Connell Room (25 sqm), it is the only room without a bathtub. There are thirty Connell Rooms and yet each one is unique. Among the features are high ceilings, vintage designer furniture and a modern bathroom with dual vanities.

The six rooms Abercrombie Rooms (32 sqm) are slightly larger and feature a freestanding bathtub, vintage designer furniture, a super king sized bed and a modern open bathroom.

There are nine Clare Rooms, offering an average size of 44 sqm, each with very different features: be it the marble lobby and corniced ceiling in the former C.U.B administration building lobby, the exposed structural elements in the corner rooms, the original curved glass windows or one of the stylish new rooms on the upper floors.

William Chippendale lent his name to the loft-style Chippendale Lofts (46 sqm) - Contemporary and spacious, with a private bedroom and sitting area over two levels. Furnished with a mix of vintage designer and custom furniture, a super king sized bed and white marble bathrooms.

There are two Showroom Suites (53 sqm) at The Old Clare Hotel – each with an original bar, salvaged and restored from the former brewery building. The suites feature vintage designer furniture and lamps, a super king sized bed and modern oversized bathroom.

The hotel’s second largest suite is named after the legendary Chippendale character, Mary O’Shea who was also known as Pig Mary. Offering a separate entertaining and dining area for up to eight guests, a wet bar and sleeping quarters overlooking Kensington Street, the Mary O’ Suite (60 sqm) offers ample space for a comfortable stay but can also be used for meetings and small private dining events.

The C.U.B. Suite is located in the former Carlton & United Breweries’ boardroom and still features its original timber panelling, parquetry floors, cornices and even the restored executive men's washroom. Across more than 100 sqm the C.U.B. Suite offers spacious separate sleeping quarters, ample meeting, living and dining space with an eight-seater table and an anteroom with library.

The Facilities
Guests can experience the hotel's rooftop bar and pool, as well as three unique restaurants.
