Thala Beach Nature Reserve is an eco-friendly wildlife resort located on a private coastal headland in Port Douglas offering stunning views of the Coral Sea on one of the most untouched coastlines. The resort is set on 140 acres of forest and some of the world most beautiful private access beaches. The resort has achieved the highest level of Advanced Eco Certification and offers unique and complimentary onsite tours and experiences for guests.

Located just 10 minutes by car from Port Douglas and 45 minutes from central Cairns, guests can convenienly explore the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest. Whether strolling under the coconut palms on private tropical beach or relaxing with cocktails watching the sunset over the coastal ranges, you will be enchanted by your surrounds.

The Rooms
The resort offers unique wooden bungalow accommodation, which are elevated on poles within the forest canopy and offer views of either ocean or lush forested mountains. They each have a private entrances and deck and sleep two people (either one double bed or two single beds). A third bed can be added for an extra fee. Each slightly varies in location, size and view yet all are quiet, peaceful and offer the sightings of birds, butterflies and sweet sounds of nature.

The Facilities
There are two pools; the main swimming pool is located next to the Main Lodge and is complete with waterfalls and spas and dotted with sun loungers under shady trees. The “Rock Pool” is smaller, intimate set amongst secluded gardens surrounded by rainforest with a lovely waterfall for ultimate tranquility.

The world renowned Osprey’s Restaurant boast panoramic views over the Coral Sea and rainforest-clad mountains, where you can enjoy stunning views for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Food is cooked with care from its seasonal herb garden and local suppliers. Curlews Lounge & Bar forms the southern pavilion overlooking more mountains and ocean all the way to Double Island and Cairns beyond.
