The drive up the mountain takes about 30 minutes, and part of that journey is by graded track, which we would recommend guests use 4wd vehicles, although it is passable with saloon cars. From its humble beginnings as the Jebel Shams camping and trekking site in 2004 with six chalets and nine Arabic tents, the business has been transformed. Today the resort has twenty chalets, fifteen Arabic tents, an internationally flavored restaurant, and a coffee shop. All of the rooms have air conditioning for the summer and heating for the winter season. The resort is the perfect place to come for winter sun with an average temperature during the day of circa 15 degrees Celsius. It is also a great retreat from the summer heat of the region, with the resort being at least 15 degrees cooler than the capital Muscat. A heated swimming pool is currently under construction which will be available for use all year round, and a wide range of activities are available for our guests to enjoy. Our friendly and attentive staff are always on hand to assist, the majority of whom speak good English, and all have good local knowledge of the mountain and its surrounding areas. Free Wi-Fi is available across much of the resort if you want to keep in touch with your world; all of the rooms come with satellite TV, although we would recommend a roaring camp fire and the stunning pollution free view of the night sky. We can cater for groups of all sizes from individuals to large corporate groups wanting a very different venue for meetings/incentives to team building exercises. If you want to truly immerse yourself in the Omani culture, the resort can arrange traditional foods such as a shua, bread made by local villagers, mountain bee honey, and traditional craft making demonstrations.
