The resort is set on the edge of Thian Og Bay or Shark Bay as it is more commonly known. The white stone of the villas and walk ways blends seamlessly with the white sand of the bay and blue waters. The bay gets its name from a sheer under water drop at the edge of the bay where the reef drops suddenly away into deep sea and creates a popular feeding ground for reef sharks.

As one of the few luxury resort on Koh Tao, Jamahkiri has cornered the market but does so extremely well. The feeling of escapism achieved through Jamahkiri's positioning on such a small island and with its own private beach is guaranteed. All rooms, pavilions and suites have full, uninterrupted, stunning sea views.

The Rooms
There are five room categories at Jamahkiri, although each room and pavilion is unique and has been individually designed and decorated. The difference between the rooms and pavilions is the location. The pavilions and suites are independent bungalow, located along the steep hillside ending in Thian Og Bay. As part of a larger structure, the Deluxe Rooms are hosted in the hotel wing which is located directly on the seafront.

The Deluxe Rooms are situated in the Hotel part. They all come with a private balcony, stunning sea views, air-conditioning, king size or twin beds, sofa as well as an en-suite bathroom with bath and separate rain shower.

The individual Deluxe Pavilions have either a Jacuzzi or shower in the bathroom. The balcony offers a large view over the sea. The rooms include fully stocked mini-bar, air-conditioning, satellite television and DVD player.

The spacious Deluxe Suite Pavilions is great for families as the king sized bedroom is connected to a large living room with a sofa bed. The rooms include fully stocked mini-bar, air-conditioning, satellite television, DVD player, telephone, balcony and jacuzzi.

The resort then has two types of pavilions that can be used to accommodate a family of four, a group of friends or simply provide a more spacious alternative for a couple.

The Family Suite Pavilion is set over two levels with the king sized bedroom on the top floor and a spacious living space with bar and sofa bed on the ground floor which opens up onto a large balcony.

Finally, the Royal Suite of a generous 220 square meters is located on the hotel wing’s top floor and has two well appointed bedrooms (1 king size and 1 twin) with two bathrooms, one with a heart shaped Jacuzzi. Opening to it’s own large private terrace with stunning uninterrupted sea views, the large living room is sure to impress, complete with a kitchen, long corner sofas, 50” flat screen television, computer with free internet access and decorated with genuine Thai antiques.

The Facilities
The hotel's spa offers various treatment rooms as well as a steam rooms. Private yoga classes can be arranged at a surcharge.

The main activity on Koh Tao is diving. Jamahkiri has its own dive centre and dive boat which can take you to some of the best dive sight around the Gulf of Thailand. The centre can also rent snorkel equipment and canoes.

Jamahkiri also has its own monkey reserve, open to all guests. There are some rescued gibbons in the reserve which have come from all over Thailand to live out the rest of their days in safety.

Koh Tao itself is a sleepy place, where the emphasis on diving has lead to a rather relaxed nightlife that sees many hit the hay quite early. Having said that, for those who don't dive there are several good restaurants in the main town and a couple of really nice beach bars to spend the evenings enjoying. Diving is by no means a prerequisite on Koh Tao.

There is a complimentary shuttle from Jamahkiri to the town every hour from 9am to 9pm.
