This expansive, architecturally designed beach villa has been recently renovated and seamlessly combines traditional Sri Lankan features with elegant furnishings and contemporary art. Set on an acre of gardens overlooking the ocean, the villa is just 15 minutes from Galle’s historic Dutch Fort and less than 10 minutes to the popular golden sands of Unawatuna Beach. Driving from Colombo international airport will take about 2.5 hours.
The villa has 4 air-conditioned bedrooms spilt between 2 wings flanking the main living area, making it an ideal choice for 2 families. There are 3 double rooms with antique four-poster beds, plus a twin room. All the bedrooms have en suite bathrooms, and private terraces accessed via tall louvered plantation doors. Unlike many of the villas on this stretch of coast, there is no road noise. All you will hear at night is the sea.
The main part of the house consists of a formal dining room and generous sized living room opening out onto a verandah and private pool. There is also a mezzanine level, which acts as a cosy TV and reading room. The villa has a 46-inch flat screen TV with satellite connection, DVD player, surround sound speaker system and Wi-Fi. As well as the formal dining room, there is also an external courtyard dining area, and a traditional pavilion overlooking the ocean, the perfect spot for a sunset cocktail.
At Satin Doll a team of 7 experienced staff, plus nighttime security guards will look after you. On site chefs prepare a wide range of local and international dishes and are happy to discuss your particular requests. Laundry services, babysitters and a driver with car can all be easily arranged. A cot and high chair are available for families. The villa also has two treatment rooms. If you would like a massage or other beauty treatment a trained therapist will come to the property.
While you probably want to keep this idyllic slice of paradise all to yourself, private events for up to 50 people can be arranged at Satin Doll, making it a perfect location for an intimate wedding or other special occasion.
