"For anyone thinking of spending some time in Sri Lanka the advice I have is don't hesitate! The country is stunning the people are fantastic the food is to die for and if you want a quiet bungalow with your own private beach in one of the not so commercial tourist towns in the South, Villa Hibiscus in Weligama is an unbelievable find. It has fantastic snorkeling and safe swimming at the end of the garden, stilt fishermen in the distance, a staff of five at your beg and call with the most delicious rice & curry meals imaginable and all at a reasonable price - what an unbelievable place! Oh and surfing for my boys and a local village just down the road." TR 2011

The roomy single storey plantation villa is located approximately 1 km from Weligama town on the south coast and set in a traffic free location, well beyond the west coast tourist trail.

Villa Hibiscus sleeps 6 comfortably in 3 double bedrooms (all en suite) with ceiling fans and mosquito nets. All linen (Egyptian Cotton) is supplied. There is a CD, DVD (bring your own discs), a wide screen TV and internet for your use.

It is set in one acre of gardens, which it shares with two other villas. The grounds boast over 100 coconut palms, lemon, banana and papaya trees, succulents and of course many varieties of Hibiscus shrubs and it is this idyllic private setting makes the property special. The villa has access to the deserted beach and the Indian Ocean with perfectly safe bathing within the bay which is surrounded by a colourful tropical reef and good for snorkelling.

The villa is fully staffed by an English speaking manager, house boy, cooks and a gardener. The cooks services are charged at $10 per day and meals are cooked to order and include a variety of fresh fish and fruit, or traditional Sri Lankan dishes that can be enjoyed al fresco on the terrace. All orders can be discussed with the English speaking manager and arranged on the spot.

The villa also provide a complimentary fruit basket upon arrival, a bottle of mineral water for the 1st night of your stay, daily standard breakfast which consists of; tea, coffee, milk, fresh juice, homemade bread and jam, eggs to order (bacon and sausage can be ordered on request).

Its neighbours include a two bedroom villa called the Luxury Walauwa and a 1 bedroom beach hut called Muhudu Bella, which both lie in front of Villa Hibiscus on the beach front.

Tours to Yala National Park can be arranged from the villa, or a two day excursion to the Hill Country visiting the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy, Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage and the beautiful tea plantations.
