" Borderlands - brilliant! We had the en suite hut - well worth doing - especially if you have a family - otherwise you will be wandering around the site in the night looking for the loo-block. The activities were great - full marks to the Borderlands staff for safety and instructions - they have safety canoes out when you are rafting/tubing or kayaking - we could see this isn't the norm for the other rafts using the river. They encourage you enormously in the canyoning. My husband and daughter are very gung-ho types (they were somersaulting into the pools) but I was absolutely terrified - I hate water!!! and the chaps were great with me - they make you believe it is safe - they really know what they are doing - and even I did the canyonning - which I wasn't sure I would do! Some places shove you off the edge - Borderlands would never do that - I cannot recommend them enough - great set up and wonderful location. " H.S. August 2015

"The best part of our trip to Sri Lanka! - We stayed at Borderlands on 22-23 August 2013 and loved every minute. The five of us really enjoyed being so close to nature - waking up to the sights and sounds of the river only a couple of metres away from our hut was unforgettable, and our youngest son, Georgie, was in heaven surrounded by so many animals - from giant squirrels to water monitors to millipedes; I even had a firsthand experience of a leech - another first (although not one I'm sure I want to repeat)!

The camp is charming and has everything you need for a memorable and comfortable stay, without compromising the ethos of making everyone feel part of the surrounding environment and enjoying an adventure. We really loved hanging out in the long house, especially in the evening, when the great food and laid back vibe - including a tour through Wade's wide-ranging music collection - made us all feel completely relaxed.

The staff are all fantastic - their friendliness, professionalism and attentiveness are what make this experience so enjoyable and memorable. And it meant that everyone in our family (from the most nervous to the most adventurous) was able to get the most out of the activities. And what activities! It was hard to choose between the rafting, canyoning and kayaking, but for sheer excitement we all agreed that the canyoning ticked every box - you have never seen such wide smiles on everyone's faces!

We have all agreed that Borderlands was the stand-out experience of our trip, and we would love to come again some time (or maybe even Nepal?)Thanks again to all the team Jonny, Hannah, Archie (13), Hugo (11) and Georgie (9)'

This lovely little camp is set on the edge of the Kelani River with twelve 'glamping' style tents sat on stilted platforms. It is an ideal spot for those who want some peace and quiet, but also for those who want to throw themselves into all the adventures and fun that the river has to offer.

Kithulgala is known by many as Sri Lanka's capital of adrenalin sports, all of which are all available to try at Borderlands with experienced staff. Everything from canoeing and kayaking to rafting and canyoning can be arranged, as well as abseiling, climbing and rope events and hiking. There are some wonderful walks to be had, including the nearby Adam's peak and the largest prehistoric caves in Sri Lanka. But for those feeling less energetic there are also other activities on offer - we did the crayoning, which we did and loved!

The camp is incredibly peaceful - expect to fall asleep to the sound of the river as it rushes below you. There are shared showers and toilets on site and the tents are covered by thatched roofs, ensuring a dry stay at all times. The tents feature twin beds (which can be converted into double beds), linen, bedside tables and lamps, as well as a private terrace with river views. Two tents are ideal for families.

In the evenings guests gravitate to the camp's Long House, which has a sound system with an iPod dock and wi-fi. It serves delicious food, cold beers, wine and a chilled, friendly environment. All meals are included in the nightly rates.
