The lodge is just a 10 minute drive from the town of Kaikoura; the departure point for some of the finest whale watching opportunities in the world. Yet Manakau Lodge feels like a world away from the tourist hustle and bustle. The surroundings are blissfully quiet and it is just a stone’s throw from spectacular wilderness walks and a few minutes to beaches and scenic coastal reserves.

There are four spacious and elegantly appointed guest rooms. All have king sized beds with fine cotton linen and are supremely comfortable. Bathrooms are modern and luxurious, with heated floors, fluffy towels and a walk in monsoon shower. The two deluxe rooms have the added indulgence of a freestanding bathtub.

Each room has a private outdoor area with spectacular panoramic views. For the technologically minded, there are in room iPads for guest to use freely as well as Apple TV, with a huge digital library of movies and music that can be streamed direct to your room.

Breakfast is served every morning and is freshly prepared from local ingredients. There is a wide choice of cooked breakfasts to set you up perfectly for the rest of the day. For guests that don’t wish to travel into town for dinner there are a selection of platters available to pre-order which can be accompanied by a choice of delicious New Zealand wines.
